Texture Mods

Recommended Posts

As the only other post about 4Aces Textures in this * new forum are 2 years old and were not responded to. And as DanManGames is no longer actively supporting anything to do with fallout 3 I have low expectations of receiving an assist with this but I live in hope.

Yes I know the game is now several years old but I purchased it after buying Skyrim and like it. So I decided I would try and make the most of my new 2GB GTX560 with 8 GB RAM in my 3.4Ghz 64X2 XP Box. So I went looking for and found 4Aces textures.

I have a few questions regarding how he describes the installation process.

1. What if I dont have a Textures folder in the Data folder to back up ?

2. What is or are TexMesh ?

3. Where do I find to run "ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!" whatever it is ?

4. Where do I obtain the Hybrid Normals ?

Any assist appreciated

Then you can skip that part. If your game is still vanilla then that folder does not exist just yet.

Not a clue. Spelling error? Please post a link to the mod's page.

ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated

4. Where do I obtain the Hybrid Normals ?

Again, no idea. And again: Please post a link to the mod's page.

1. If you don't have a Textures folder, it means that all of your textures are vanilla (which are packed inside of bsa archives) so you don't need to back them up. Anytime you want to return to vanilla textures, all you have to do is delete the textures you want rid of in your data folder.

2. Looks like TexMesh replaces not only the textures with higher res ones but also changes the meshes (the model) for items too so the textures will look better on them.

3. You can either use the version available in FOMM or NMM or you can use the standalone version from here: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/944

4. Hybrid Normals are downloaded here: http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/3288

Since you're using such a large texture pack, I'd advise you to try the Large Address Aware Enabler (if you have a 64-bit operating system) and Fallout Stutter Remover (requires FOSE) for the best performance.

Happy modding :)
