MadeUpName92
So, I switched to vortex, by reinstalling the game from scratch, then installing F4SE, then installing Vortex and manually dropping all 160+ mods into it (from my own archive backup so I don't have to download them all again) I got to say, this worked great. All my mods installed at one time, freaking awesome. Solving all the conflicts was easy (after I figure out what "load after" really meant. Does it make A load after B or make B load after A? This isn't 100% clear but I quickly found a tutorial to make it so.) But when I hit the "Check for mod updates" it doesn't find any. Even though I know for a fact there are. So, I researched this. Since I didn't re-download every single mod through Vortex, they are all missing their mod id's and this causes the update mods feature to fail. Well, in NMM I'd just click the "Fix missing mods id's" button. Apparently you left this "primary" function out of Vortex or I am blind and just can't find it. I looked in the forums and it seems I must manually go through each mod (over 160) one at a time and manually change the source then manually check for the mod id. A lot of manual stuff there :( Otherwise, it's all working fine so far.
Grestorn
For single mods, you can ask Vortex to guess the id from its file name (there's a button right of the mod id edit field). But I don't think that there's a way to do this for a number of mods in a single step.

But I don't think that there's a way to do this for a number of mods in a single step. Yeah, I said that in my post. Anyways, the mess deepens. I went through and manually got all the id's, ran an update check and successfully got a list of mods I need to update. Now, the problem is they won't update. Some say I must do it manually, no problem. The ones that says I can update automatically (the little cloud icon) all return an "Unknown download" error when I try. So I have to delete the mod and redownload it through Vortex anyways! /facepalm
Grestorn
Can you make a screenshot of one of the mods properties? And if you click the "Visit on www.nexusmods.com" link, what's the actual URL it tries to access? Is the "source" field set properly?

Grestorn
If Vortex doesn't detect the correct nexus' game property correctly, it also will not be able to check for updates. And it will not be able to link to the correct mod page. I'm just suspecting that this is the issue.
Tahano
I have also found that some of the "guess" mod id's are incorrect, such as BareziahQuestMarkers_Droppable returns a mod ID of "0." I would think the simplest solution would be to show the "mod id" on the page of the mod. Its there in the data base, just hidden on the page.Which brings up another point. Nexus's search engine is atrocious. Have better results through google then nexus when looking for a specific mod.

Normally the title for the unpacked mod will include the Nexusmods ID.
