RobinHood2005
Hey y'all. I have a mild issue that's been annoying me since I started a new Fallout New Vegas save. I was having a problem with frame rate and stuttering, as well as crashing, so I started a new save, switched from Vortex to NMM, watched a few Gopher videos and reinstalled a lot of my mods. Now, the frame rate of the game is much better, a solid 60 fps, and it looks MUCH better than before.However, 50% of the time, when I try to turn around, open a safe, open/put away my Pip-Boy, pull out a gun, throw a grenade, etc. my game freezes for about 2 seconds and the sound loops, before everything going back to normal again. It doesn't always happen, and it's not game-breaking, but it can be very irritating and take away my enjoyment when playing the game. I have a GTX 1070 and an i7 7700k CPU. I have the Large Texture Pack for NMC (all parts), Ojo Bueno Ultra, 4k supermutant textures, Dynamo ENB (default presets), Nevada Skies and the following: 0 0 FalloutNV.esm 1 1 DeadMoney.esm 2 2 HonestHearts.esm 3 3 OldWorldBlues.esm 4 4 LonesomeRoad.esm 5 5 GunRunnersArsenal.esm 6 6 ClassicPack.esm 7 7 MercenaryPack.esm 8 8 TribalPack.esm 9 9 CaravanPack.esm 10 a YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esm 11 b oHUD.esm 12 c New Vegas Redesigned 3.esm 13 d ELECTRO-CITY - CompletedWorkorders.esm FCOMaster.esm 14 e Gomorrah Redesigned v2.esp 15 f Weapons.of.the.New.Millenia.esm 16 10 SomeguySeries.esm 17 11 AWorldOfPain(Preview).esm 18 12 More Perks.esm 19 13 More Perks for Dead Money.esm 20 14 ELECTRO-CITY - Highways and Byways.esm 21 15 Bitter Springs Redesigned.esp 22 16 AWOPDeadMoney.esm 23 17 More Perks for Honest Hearts.esm 24 18 More Traits.esm 25 19 Project Nevada - Core.esm 26 1a Project Nevada - Equipment.esm 27 1b Project Nevada - Rebalance.esp 28 1c Project Nevada - Cyberware.esp 29 1d More Perks for Old World Blues.esm 30 1e More Perks for Companions.esm 31 1f NevadaSkies.esm 32 20 YUP - NPC Fixes (Base Game + All DLC).esp 33 21 More Perks for Dead Money Update.esp 34 22 Project Nevada - Dead Money.esp 35 23 Project Nevada - Honest Hearts.esp 36 24 DarNifiedUINV.esp 37 25 The Mod Configuration Menu.esp 38 26 DYNAVISION 3.esp 39 27 EVE FNV - ALL DLC.esp 40 28 Project Nevada - Gun Runners' Arsenal.esp 41 29 CASM with MCM.esp 42 2a Better Game Performance.esp 43 2b Vurt's WFO.esp 44 2c New Vegas Redesigned 3.esp 45 2d WeaponModsExpanded.esp 46 2e WMX-ArenovalisTextures.esp 47 2f WMX-DLCMerged.esp 48 30 Project Nevada - Old World Blues.esp 49 31 Weapons.of.the.New.Millenia.Leveled.Lists.esp 50 32 christinecos.esp 51 33 Weapons.of.the.New.Millenia.Honest.Hearts.Grunt.Patch.esp 52 34 AWOP-NVR3.esp 53 35 More Perks Update.esp 54 36 CNR_Beta.esp MMUE-CP-Electrocity.esp 55 37 AWOPDeadMoneyVendorPatch.esp 56 38 Conelrad 640-1240.esp 57 39 More Perks for Companions Update.esp 58 3a More Traits Update.esp 59 3b More Perks for Honest Hearts Update.esp 60 3c More Perks for Old World Blues Update.esp 61 3d boa ncrpahelmet.esp 62 3e Boacombat2glove.esp 63 3f pipboy2500_edisleado.esp 64 40 ADAM Complete.esp 65 41 ADAM - MERGE.esp 66 42 MojaveSandyDesert.esp 67 43 NewVegasBounties.esp 68 44 NukaCola-Ojo.esp 69 45 SR556.esp 70 46 M14.esp 71 47 Project Nevada - Lonesome Road.esp 72 48 TheLozza's_Gasmasks_V2.esp 73 49 RWD-NV v1.4 [standard Version].esp 74 4a Centered 3rd Person Camera - Unraised.esp 75 4b dD-Reduced Dismember Force - EVE.esp 76 4c dD - Enhanced Blood Main NV.esp 77 4d dD-Smaller Wounds - EVE.esp AWOP-IMPACT-WMX-EVE AllDLCMerged.esp 78 4e Project Nevada - WMX.esp 79 4f Project Nevada - EVE All DLC.esp 80 50 WMX-ModernWeapons.esp 81 51 WMX-POPMerged.esp 82 52 NevadaSkies - Brighter Nights.esp 83 53 FNVLODGen.esp 84 54 NevadaSkies - TTW Edition.esp 85 55 NevadaSkies - Ultimate DLC Edition.esp 86 56 NevadaSkies - Basic Edition.esp I have tried using Nvidia Inspector, using NVSR, changing one of the values in NVSR to eliminate stutter like Gopher said, nothing. HeyYou
Have you tried it without the hi-res textures? I wonder if that isn't at least part of it.....
RobinHood2005
Have you tried it without the hi-res textures? I wonder if that isn't at least part of it.....I mean, I could try it, but I don't want to risk corrupting my saves or crashing. It's time consuming, too. Besides, though it could be a part of the problem, I find this to be highly unlikely, as it happens in every area of the game and does not impact FPS beyond that. HeyYou
Oddly enough, the times when you are experiencing the stutter, is when the game needs to load some new textures. I would be that the stutter while turning, only happens once, in any particular area, and then not again until you move to a new area. I see this on my machine, and I don't use any texture enhancers at all. It was DRAMATICALLY reduced to moving from a mechanical HDD, to an SSD though...... With high res textures, I could see that little problem being exacerbated by the larger than stock files.

I once ran the game on a HDD that I salvaged from an old laptop of mine, but reinstalled it on my Samsung 960 Evo, which is my main drive. Strangely enough, when the game freezes like I mentioned, or when something needs to get loaded, I hear this faint noise coming from my PC. It's like something is speeding up, while building up to a clicking sound, which causes the game to unfreeze. I hope that my SSD is not on its way out... I only got it a couple of months ago.
RobinHood2005
My other two drives are a 640GB WD HDD and a 500GB Samsung 860 Evo. I don't quite know if that is of any major significance, though.
HeyYou
SSD won't make those kind of noises. No moving parts. :D Sounds like your mechanical drive may be having some issues. Would your machine be trying to read anything from that while you are playing? O/S installed on SSD as well?
RobinHood2005
SSD won't make those kind of noises. No moving parts. :D Sounds like your mechanical drive may be having some issues. Would your machine be trying to read anything from that while you are playing? O/S installed on SSD as well?Exactly what i was thinking, with the moving parts and all. And yes, my OS is installed on the same SSD. EDIT: Dude..... I just realised. NMM for me stores my mods on my HDD. Think that could be the problem? If so, how do I migrate my mods onto the SSD? HeyYou
I am not exactly sure how NMM deals with that... Does it actually copy the files to the right spot? Or are they just symbolic links? If they are just links, then, yeah, the game is trying to read them from the HDD..... I have two SSDs, (no mechanical drives.....) so for me, it just doesn't matter where they are.
