TheDireWolf
Alright, I've been grappling with this for a while. At first, OBSE simply didn't work; it didn't load, and thus the mods that needed it failed to function. I went through a lot of options that were supposed to fix it - I replaced the OBSE loader with an older version, I launched the loader before I loaded the game through steam, I reinstalled the entire game. I double, triple, quadruple checked every inch of the installation, and all of it was correct. Now, I think I've finally managed to make OBSE run - I run Steam as an administrator now. And, of course, it turns out that it crashes the launcher when it runs (It's definitely OBSE specifically, because even with all mods disabled or uninstalled, including OBSE scripts, it still crashes, while oblivion runs fine without it). Is there any particular problem that can cause this that I could try and look into? I am running Windows 10. HadToRegister
Why are you replacing OBSE with an older version? The latest version of OBSE will work with Oblivion as Oblivion has not been updated in a decade or so. Also, do you have Steam and Oblivion installed on the same drive? Also, do you have OBSE set to run as Administrator?Because if you run Steam as an Admin, you'd probably have to "elevate" OBSE_Loader.exe now in order to run it. HadToRegister
To run OBSE_Launcher.exe by launching it from Steam, just rename OBSE_Launcher.exe to OblivionLauncher.exe (After you backup the actual OblivionLauncher.exe)But, since you're using OBSE, then you must be using mods, so why launch Oblivion from steam? Apparently, that was something that fixed the problem for other people. Didn't work for me. I have steam and oblivion on the same drive, yes, and everything's set to run as administrator. HadToRegister
I'm guessing you did everything in the thread that mentions this 1) Close Steam2) Install OBSE 213) Install the obse_loader.exe from that file4) Run Steam.exe as an administrator and run Oblivion through Steam Because it sounds like you've done your research

That's what I think is making OBSE run now, and consequently crashing me when I try to launch.
TheDireWolf
Alright, problem solved. The issue was that Windows 10 has some really bizarre security functions with regards to Program Files, where Oblivion was installed. I moved the oblivion installation into a different directory, and it works like a charm now.
