Northern Alligator lizard

NewtC

Recommended Posts

I recently got an Alligator Lizard, and I was wondering how much I should feed it a day. (in meal worms)

Any on got any experience with this?

Avoid feeding it with yourself and things will go less wrong. huh.. ah, worms... depend... My advice you order none from Arrakis.

Just kidding of course :) I ever searched the web to know something about alligator lizards. somewhere I read they have a nasty bite, but nothing a little care can't resolve. yet they, like all cold blooded species, need a controlled environment to survive.

Hey I remember when they used to sell those things at walmart. If lizards are anything like snakes as far as how much they'll eat, then a good rule is don't give more than what is equal to a third of their body mass if it's a baby, and whatever it does not eat within five minutes or so should be removed. You don't want it to over eat, but keep in mind some pets might want more. With snakes, the bigger they get the less often they need to eat, but I would research that for lizards.

I tried to google some stuff for you but I can't find anything worth posting. Go back to the pet store, they should have care pamphlets for all the animals they sell. Maybe even some good books.

I'm probably wrong, so don't sue, but the thing with lizards is that they only eat when they're hungry, and they don't need to eat as often as other things like birds and mammals. What you might want to do is put 10 crickets in the cage or whatever, and keep track of when they start disappearing. Most lizards want live food anyway, so it really shouldn't matter.

Can probably get something a bit more credible online or on wikipedia.
