kvnchrist
What particular action, activity or personality can the title, "Being Cool" be used? I remember when I was growing up that being cool was the in thing to be and those people who were considered cool were those that others tried to emulate. I never quite understood the reasoning behind everybody wearing the same thing and hanging out in the same crowd made someone important enough to idolize. I wonder just what in our makeup makes some people more popular than others. I know that this doesn't necessarily end after adolescence and some people get so wrapped up in the persona of others that they actively imitate the people they think are cool. Thus the Elvis imitators and the fashion movements that are spurred on by Hollywood stars and recording artists. Did the minions of Hitlers inner circle think they were cool? Is being cool defined by the popularity of a certain image and if so, how does that image become popular.

eodx9000
I simply define being cool as refusing to resort to force until you're physically threatened.
Deleted472477User
I use it differently than most. I think many people use 'cool' to mean someone popular, whom they'd like to emulate, and who is usually on top of the trends, whatever they are. My idea of cool is someone who is just awesome because they're a good person, they treat others decently, they're funny or just.overall, I think they're a great person. Aurielius
'Cool' is almost never attempted to quantified by those that are.The very act of trying to identify the parameters of a chimeric concept is usual proof of not being cool.To paraphrase a comment on pornography...I don't know how to define but I recognize it when I see it. mizdarby
Being cool is kind of like Aurielis said, it's the art of having a style and charisma, without making any apparent effort. For instance in the old comedy Happy Days, the Fonz was cool, Richie wasn't very cool and Ralph was a million miles from cool, or in Star Wars, Hans Solo was definitely cool whereas Luke was definitely not cool. Cynster
To me, cool people are people who know what they want in life and do it well or are just happy doing what they do. Cool changes I think as we age. But I think cool people are the ones where they don't need someone else to approve of what they do, they just do it and they feel secure about it. Everyone picks up on that confidence, and I think that makes them seem "cool". :turned: thinking of someone cool in particular as I write this... ViaFernandez
Cool is a state of being. It is in something that you do and how you present yourself at any given moment. Coolness is a description that cannot originate from yourself. You cannot possibly, believably, dub yourself cool.
kibblesticks
I'd describe "being cool" as maintaining a low temperature in a chilly enviroment. Come on, someone had to say it  Naw, seriously though, being cool is like being masculine or being honourable, the concept only exists if you think it does. I used to think about how to be "cool" all the time when I was a teenager, then I realised the best way to be cool is to stop worrying about being cool and accept it's just an abstract concept. The only way to be cool is to act like coolness doesn't exist, and to not care about being cool even if you are cool.
