Missing a bunch of .ESM files?

Hi guys, after a few years of not playing skyrim, I came back and saw there was a new mod organizing program, I was excited!

As easy and dope the program is to use, it tells me I'm missing all game .ESM files and I don't know how to change it.

I have Skyrim Legendary edition and it's all installed properly and ran well before installing any mods

Hope someone can help!

Where is your game installed? Where is your mod staging folder located? The latter must be on the same disk partition as your game.

I have them both installed on " E:\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim " I made a special folder for the Mods though.

Mod Staging is on " E:\steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Mods " because the directory had to be empty or something.

Hi, you should place your mod staging folder outside of the game folder. There should be a small i beside that, if you click on it, you'll see that it mentions the use of {GAME}. What you want to do, is use {GAME}, so that if you let Vortex be the mod manager for another game, it will automatically generate the necessary folder.

So let's say you decide to set it to E:\Modding\Vortex\{GAME}. It will automatically create the folder E:\Modding\Vortex\skyrim (seeing as how you're currently "managing" Skyrim) and move your mods there. But if you manage another game, like Witcher 3. It will generate the folder path E:\Modding\Vortex\Witcher 3 for you. Mods that you download for the Witcher 3, will automatically be placed into that folder, instead of the folder for Skyrim.

It's also really nice to have a folder dedicated to modding, because as you get into it deeper and deeper, you may decide to use the more advanced tools. And hey, you already have a folder dedicated for that, so you can install it there. Another bonus is that it will make the un-installation of those tools easier, as they will be installed into their own folder (E:\Modding\xEdit for xEdit, E:\Modding\Merge Plugins for the Merge Plugins tool... etc).

Move your Mods folder out of your game directory to some other location on E:/. Be sure to redo the Mod Staging Path in Vortex. Also, are you using "Hardlink Deployment?"

Edit: It looks like FlamingCheeseMonkey had already come to the rescue before I could hit my add post button. His advice and explanation are excellent. Read his post closely. Also, please let us know if you get your problem resolved.

Sorry all, have been busy for a few days, thank you for the replies.

I have tried as @FlamingCheeseMonkey had advised, but it hasn't worked, fully atleast. There have been improvements, now all I'm missing are the Dawnguard .ESM files

Every mod I installed I've selected Legendary, given the option. Have all my DLCs downloaded.

I've tried Hardlink, and the move deployment. Neither worked.

The message I receive now is:

EDIT:

I fixed it!! I just reinstalled the game after what y'all told me, and then it worked! Thank you guys!
