MagiKmAns
indoors i have like10-45 fps, and even crashes sometimes, compared to my 60-70 fps outdoors. i dont know why but its really annoying is there ini tweaks? maybe remove sounds of skyrim that effects indoors? i dont know. i play on low graphics with max actor and item/object view distance. with 8 sample anti aliasing. (however you spell it)and when its it lags indoors its usually in one direction. i was exploring and i found a cave with maybe at least 200 bandits in it (biggest place in skyirm ive ever seen + ASIS, lol) and no lag. but in some caves/dungeons it just lags really badly. please help. :D
MagiKmAns
dont tell me its because of the enemy count cause my computer can run warzones easily. on the 3 spawns option
tetradite
At a guess.... something about your system maybe doesn't like the lighting indoors? Like it goes haywire with too many light sources/multiple shadow sources? That is a complete guess though. 8 samples of AA is a lot if you're only running low settings. AA seems to hit my frame rate/stutter etc more than any other graphic setting. Try reducing or getting rid of AA and upping the rest to Medium maybe? woody79
I agree with previous post, AA can be a performance killer...Try turning AA down to 2 (doubt you will notice a big difference in visuals with good improvement on performance) and reduce item draw distance to around 8 (again, doubt u will really notice difference visually but will slightly increase performance) What graphics card do you have, and are you using the games built-in AA? Septfox
I too agree, 8x AA can hit performance pretty hard if your card isn't good at it. The visual difference between 4x and 8x is negligible anyway, so try turning it down. Better yet, go get SMAA, it barely touches performance and looks as good (if not better). This probably isn't your problem, though, since if it was inadequate power for AA being the problem, you would get single-digit framerates outside. My best guess is the same as tetradite's; a lighting or shadowing problem. Shadows can take a lot out of inadequate video hardware. Lighting can too, usually to a lesser degree, but from my experiences in Oblivion on old hardware specular lighting takes a fairly large chunk of shader power to pull off each frame. Complete specs (processor, video card model, etc) would help us see whether you have underpowered hardware or the problem is something else. Rennn
If you use ambient occlusion, that can hit the fps harder indoors than outdoors.
MagiKmAns
thanks for all the replies :D they helped a lot my derp computer thinks it can handle ultra so it set everything to that automaticly and i guess i didnt notice i didnt change the shadow detail, so then i tried it like that and it was way smoother. then i changed AA to 2x and it runs amazingly :D thank you so much! this is the only post ive had that got a real answer :D
MagiKmAns
and now i can play again cause helgen crashes my computer and i didnt have any clean saves that worked. (dont download a headshot mod... it ruined my saves. because i made a clean save, its just a horrible mod XD)
Septfox
Really? That's odd, I've been sniping people left and right with the headshot mod; mostly bandits who I know will be annoying if I let them be. No troubles so far at all, aside from the occasional laggy head hitbox. Hrm, this makes me think that I might want to create a clean save or two, just to be absolutely safe... Well, glad to hear you got it sorted out.
MagiKmAns
@septfoxthe one thing about the headshot mod i dont like it the fact that it one shots dragons... so i removed it and it ruined all my saves :( and when i got one of them to work it made it so i cant use arrows, this ruined my character because i was an archer with 5 followers. lol.
