Is it possible to mod the first person animations?

Something I found odd was that there was never any first person animation changing mods for Skyrim. Perhaps the community hasn't found out how to make these mods yet?

First person animation mods are important because if there are to be mods that add unique types of weapons (spears, guns and etc) won't they look odd without complementing animations? In case you haven't seen it yet, there are a few gun mods out there already. They use the staff animations and it looks pretty silly.

Anyways, is it possible to change (mod) the first person animations in Skyrim? Also, is it possible to add more weapon types to Skyrim through mods?

It's possible to make new animations, but it's not possible to add them to the game. Except by replacing existing ones. Or use custom races (for only a period of time) and replace existing animations during this time frame.

For 1st person it's probably even worse. I could be wrong, but I doubt you can add another 1st person view with another race. Which means you can't replace 1st person animations for a short period only.

And no, you can't add new weapon types.

Everything I said provided there will be no hard-working genious coming out of the woods, who is able to reverse-engineer large portions of the behavior files into Beth's secret Havok project files.

They're not possible to add to the game? Then what's FNIS all about then?

1st person animations? Just as easy as applying the 3rd person KF to the 1st person model, but you'll have to tweak the KF to be as stead as possible.

You can, but it's a b*tch to do.

Oh, and if FNIS doesn't get the job done, there's always Josh's skyrim behavior file patcher.

@Budz42: Are you sure you know what you are talking about? :)

FNIS is adding idles. NOONE has succeded to add anything more (like combat) to the game, and put in in a working and mainatainable mod. Some people have claimed they have it running on their pc, but it's not available in any way. All new animations of that type are REPLACER.

And the famous file patcher. lol

Nothing but idles, purely based on FNIS 1.0 technology. And never being ported to Skyrim 1.6 (probably I didn't care to port this outdated stuff to 1.6)

  • 4 years later...

only Hitman47101 can animate such a thing, you guys already saw his fantastic work for a mod called " Hitman's 1st Person Weapons Animations Overhaul mod " for Fallout New Vegas. it replace all the static looking 1st person animation of guns & such to a modern standard animation. I think Hitman47101 could make it for Skyrim IF, if only he want to...
