thieves guild glitch

Ok, I've run into a glitch with every character I try to make. and its really annoying me

I complete the quest "taking care of business" and brynjolf tells me to follow him to the thieves guild. I follow and the first problem I notice is that he isnt talking, if I get too close he just turns around and says "hmm?" and when I back off he resumes his route..

Now here's the odd part, I enter the cistern, and brynjolf is just walking ahead of me, according to everyone in there i'm tresspassing, and the scene with mercer does not trigger. whats going on?

Reminds me of a bug I ran into... Some NPC's that had custom dialogue, like the three people in the shack at the beginning of the dark brotherhood, now only have generic dialogue after update 1.6.

but in the shack you only have to kill them. in this case I am suppose to listen to brynjolf and mercer chat and it doesnt occur, this is my 3rd character i'm attempting it on and still no luck

I've also notice this bug with the Thieves on the road... One of them force me into dialogue, but instead of robbing me, they said some random greeting from generic dialogue.

You could just set that objective to be completed with the console.

You're probably missing a script. You're really not going to like this, but you may have to download the vanilla scripts by downloading the whole game again. Check to see if you have the main thieves guild script.

It looks like, unlike the civil war, the thieves uses a separate script for each quest. They either start TG0 or QF_TG0. The civil war has seperate scripts, but they all grab from the civil war script. Anyways, make sure you have them.

Example:

Taking care of business scripts are:

QF_TG01_0001F326

TG01QuestScript

They would be in data/scripts/source.

No, the quest wouldn't do anything without it. I've noticed another bug like this...

After returning the axe to Ulfric, the dialogue starts for the battle for Whiterun... but halfway into the dialogue, Ulfric doesn't say the next line. It fixed itself when I left the room, the quest automatically started.

Since you need to engage them in dialogue, I can see why it doesn't fix itself. Plus, if everyone thinks you're trespassing, you haven't been given the correct faction update either. Really sounds like a script issue. Do you use any thieves guild mods?

I really hope it pays off. It would really suck if it didn't work.

Good thing I don't like the Thieves guild, because I might get the same problem. That would piss me off.
