Arrows fly straight and forever

Arrows are so annoying. They're always either hitting too high or two low and its hard to find a sweet spot (May yards away) where the arrow actually hits what your aiming at. Sure it can still hit them, but now where you aimed if at all.

I really want a mod that makes arrows fly straight and preferably forever until hitting something. I've also noticed that after a certain distance, NPCs are immortal and you cannot hit them because the arrows seem to pass right through. Is that a bug or something that can be fixed? Perhaps its because its treating the actor as nothing but a texture/background object so it doesn't have solidity to help boost performance or something? If thats the case I guess invinci-NPC is better then Crashed-Game-NPC.

Hm... It may actually be a mod thats making my arrows go wonky. Even so, I'm unaware of any mods I have that would do that so a new mod to override this aspect should still solve it.

This has been a problem for a longer time. Luckily, there is an easy fix that should solve most of your problems (http://zemalf.blogspot.com.es/2011/11/skyrim-archery-tweak.html):

You can fix the arrow range in your "skyrim.ini" file.

Add: [Actor] fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=XXXXX.0000

If for some reason you already have "[Actor]" somewhere in there, just add the next part into that section.

What this does it fixes arrows that can't hit anything past a certain range. E.g., When you shoot something from really far away and it never hit, but when you get a little bit close, it hits. I recommend setting the value (XXXXX.0000) to something around your Actor fade distance (~10000).

Also, the arrows by default are aimed slightly above where your crosshair is. You can fix it with these lines:

Under "[Combat]" add:

f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0

f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0

I understand your frustration, however if you're someone like me who loves Skyrim for the immersion factor then maybe you should reconsider changing your settings to an extreme degree. Of course it would be nice to just shoot an arrow and hit that dragon on the top of Bleak falls Barrow from Riverwood, but that's just not suppose to happen. I know this might not be an appropriate analogy, but i'd consider this as immersion breaking as if I made my sword hit radius 200 feet, so anyone in front of me in my line of vision will get hit even if my sword doesn't touch them. Because if you think about it, having an arrow hit someone 5,000 miles away with the same intensity as if they were 5 feet in front of you (which would be possible with what you are suggesting) is even more immersion breaking than the sword radius being 200 feet. Just something to think about before you possibly ruin your gaming experience with Skyrim :o

Yeah, but your sword does not move towards the target ... you can't compare apples and oranges.

Also, have you ever heard of a missle?

Missiles are a high-science weapon, something that hasn't even started to exist in Tamriel.

If you're using your arrow from a distance where you can't tell where you're shooting... You're too far away. The furthest I've shot with the arrow was as I was climbing to Bleak Falls Barrow, I crouched behind a rock and sniped at all the bandits. Due to the angle at which the arrow shot was elevated, I already managed to hit everybody just by aiming the crosshair at them.

That angle of elevation is made for the very purpose of using a bow at no greater than that distance; any target closer will be hit by the arrow due to being a 'taller' target.

[Combat]

fMagnetismStrafeHeadingMult=0.0

fMagnetismLookingMult=0.0

f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7

f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.7

f1PBoltTiltUpAngle=0.7

f3PBoltTiltUpAngle=0.7

[Actor]

fVisibleNavmeshMoveDist=24000.0000

i put this in a default the orignal fix i found said 14000 for actor value so i randomly changed it to 24000 and i can hit the bandits right inside bleak falls barrow from the door way and the arrow still drops due to gravity. idk how much further it will go than that but its a start

Actually Skyrim will basically shoot exactly where the center dot (hud I beleive?) is up to a certain distance. So not only do you want to know how to adjust but at what distance you need to adjust. In oblivion archer was very realistic in that you needed to adjust at a fairly short distance compared to skyirm where you point and shoot. Ive never had a problem with archery in skyrim and it is very rare that I miss a still target.
