RobinHood2005
Hey guys, this isn't as much of a problem as a request for some additional advice or information (perhaps both). I recently upgraded from a 24" Samsung S24D330 1080p monitor to an Asus 28" VP28UQG monitor (which has a resolution of 3840x2160).I plugged in the power and HDMI cables at the back, as well as my speakers, nothing else. Is there anything I can do to get more out of this monitor? For instance, I noticed that the Asus BIOS logo is stretched out and that there is little difference in visuals for Fallout New Vegas, as well as Fallout 3. They just seem to scale to the screen. Also, I have not noticed a major difference when watching YouTube videos in 4K as opposed to 1080p. Is this the way its supposed to be, or should I do something else? Thank you. (Also, I apologise if the questions above are extremely stupid). RobinHood2005
Also, I have noticed that, while playing Fallout New Vegas, my performance drops significantly even when playing at 1080p resolution. In areas where I would normally play at 60fps, I can now only play at 30.
JimboUK
Make sure the games are set to 4K in their options and that Windows is outputting 4K, if they're not set right all you'll get are visuals upscaled by the monitor. It's also worth noting that older games don't look much better at 4K, I switched my 1440p screen out for a 4K one and New Vegas didn't look much different, in the end I switched back because I was getting a performance hit for no real visual improvement. Yeah, that's what I did. Windows says that the resolution is set to 4K and I set New Vegas to 4K in the options. Do you know of any games that have their visuals vastly improved by the 4K setting? For instance, I just ran the Witcher 3 at 1440p and 4K, it looked nice, but I'm not so sure about the difference between that and 1080p. It also stuttered a little, so I had to lower some of the settings. As an additional question of mine: I have a GTX 1070 and an i7 7700k (both at factory settings). How well do you think my PC would perform across the board with higher resolutions and/or settings? Do you have any tips or recommendations? RobinHood2005
Does anyone have Ian idea on how to offset the FPS drop in Fallout New Vegas? So far, I have: Used New Vegas configator to enable certain stutter-removing options;Installed NVSR;Modified NVSR to set unnecessary functions to 0;Used Nvidia inspector with a Fallout New Vegas profile;Applied an MSI Afterburner overclock;Installed Fallout New Vegas optimizer textures, Performance of the Gods, Better Game Performance V, NVAC and Zan Auto-Purge Crash ProtectorModified the game's .ini files to improve performance and stabilityModified the files in my ENB to recognize more VRAMInstalled the 4GB Patch (which seems to be malfunctioning, considering how I used to be able to run certain visual mods smoothly and without error and now I can't, which I have made a thread about already);Ran the game in Windowed mode. I've done lots and lots of things and I have no clue whether anything more is possible. My FPS drops to 30 even when running the game at 1080p resolution, as I have mentioned before in the thread. RobinHood2005
HERE'S A TIP FOR ALL THOSE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH BLURRY TEXT IN CERTAIN APPLICATIONS AND SOFTWARES AFTER UPGRADING TO A HIGH-END MONITOR: 1.) Right click on the executable of the application that you want to manage.2.) Go to 'Compatibility'.3.) Click on 'Change High DPI Settings'.4.) Check the box that says, 'Override high DPI scaling behaviour/behavior' and select 'Application' from the drop-down menu.5.) The text in the application should be considerably more sharp and pleasant to look at.

I downgraded, with barely any visual impact and a considerable bump in FPS from around 30 to about 45.
RobinHood2005
Also, I see to have run into a technical issue with my monitor. It comes in the form of mouse lag, which only manifests itself when running GPU and CPU-heavy applications, or when right-clicking on an application that is pinned to my taskbar in Windows 10, at which point the mouse pointer stutters for half a second, before returning to its desired state. I've tried to adjust the pointer speed, DPI and even tried switching between HDMI ports on my computer. Nothing has worked so far. Could anyone help me with my issue?
