predicament
Little background: Bought and played skyrim on release. My copy ran flawlessly no CTD, no NOTHING. It was bliss. During these times I was running an HD 5670. At about mid-high setting. Good FPS, No CTD. For X-mas I got an HD 6950 2gb, It's flashed to a 6970, shweet! HDD goes bad, pull one from another computer. Stock, HP Western Digital 500gb hdd So currently, Im runningwd hdd500 gbm4n68t-v2 Asus Mobohd 6950 2gbantec hcg 620w PSUamd phenom quad core @ 3.2Ghz32-bit win7 4gb Ram So after the new hdd, which was installed around 2 months ago, i started experiencing problems. CTDs. Only when my textures were up really high though. I eventually got it all sorted out. It was bad drivers. I stopped playing Skyrim. Fast forward 2 months, here I am I can get constant 60fps with 8x AF, 4x AA, and EVERY other setting @ ultra. Problem is, when I do this, I get CTDs. Ill be running around, doing my thing and like 30 seconds after the game loads and im playing, I crash. I'm running Sounds of Skyrim, all 3 mods. I've attemped this without SoS and I still CTD. So I'm stuck with 4x af and 4x aa, rest ultra. I'm very upset as I want to use a high res texture pack be it beth's, or one from the Nexus. Problem is when I load Beth's I get into game, everything loads and then I crash. Ive recently booted up FO:3 and FO:NV and they both do the same thing. If it was hardware related wouldnt I be lagging before the CTD. Why would I be running @ 60 fps and then crash? I dont understand. PL0X HALP MEH! This happens on NO other game besides skyrim and Fallout 3 and NV. I play Arma2 @ max, WoW @ max, and witcher 2 close to max. all without crashes or lag. What gives? I'm running the MOST recent version of Skyrim, for sure.

Brandy1123
A few things i can pick out immediately since you did ask. Not knowing what mods you run or version of game you may be stopped on, here is my offering of what hardware you posted. flashing your 6950 could have and probably did damage your GPU/grapghic adapter. here is a break down of what happens when you do this. it is popular, but only if you have another $250 + to spend on the next one you will more then likely need to replace the one you stressed. http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-138247.htmlhttp://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/159(the second one is posted to show other people what you did on your flash or something very similar) Another thing i see is you are more then likely underpowered with that power supply. Brown out conditions.. ie low power or current, is a very bad condition for electronic components. It can cause junction arcing at connector/solder points and haev very bad harmonic ripples that can and will break down any electrical device. your 6950 recommends you have a 550W p/s and you have essentially taken it to an extreme with overclocking. Since you are on the edge of being underpowered prior to the flash and you are overclocking (more power and heat), you are or were killing your hardware long before its intended life expectancy. I hope i am wrong about this speculation. it is solely based on what I see that you typed and my knowledge of hardware. some advice for you. flash it back to a 6950 if its not already damaged. for the money you spent on it, its not worth the cost of having to get another one for a few in game FPS. Sim108
@Brandy_123 - Im guessing CTD means Crash?!. Anyway, I dont think it is his graphic card the problem. Im using GTX 560ti on ultra, and even I crash at random places all the time for the past week. (Which it is driving me INSANE!!) My PSU is 650w and im probably using about 500/550w. All other games work fine. I believe it is to do with the mods it self. @predicament - Are you able to upload screenshots for the load order and the mods?
