FOMM Troubles

I got an issue with FOMM:

I got to the Tranquility Lane Quest, then quickly realized the 'black and white' fuchsia of the sim inspires murderous rage in me. Utter, complete, unstoppable rage. Well, I went online and found a full color mod for Tranquility Lane. GREAT! But as I was uploading it, the power went out. When it came back on, FOMM refused to load. In fact, I unistalled and reinstalled and it STILL gave me the same error. So I downloaded the Fallout 3 only version. The good news is that I could reactivate my already installed mods no problem. But, while I could upload and activate the Tranquility Full Color mod in the package screen, it neither shows up in the main FOMM page, nor does it load up when I start the game. I'm stuck: the fuchsia of Tranquility Lane is an absolute game breaker for me, and until I can get the full color mod working, there is no point in playing. At all. Please help.

It would be a good idea to check and make sure that you have installed the mod correctly. Make sure that your meshes and textures are installed in the correct places and that the .esp is installed in your data folder. You may have to do a manual install.

I looked at the files again. There's just the mod file itself, which I put into the Fallout3/data file. Still, no option to activate it in the FOMM main screen. I added another mod via the package manager, and even though both are uploaded and activated therein, neither appears in the main screen to be activated for Fallout. And while I can access and modify the backup log (which is a text file), I cannot access the main log file as it is some kind of XLXM file that I've never heard of and Windows has no idea how to open.

The standard option that the install promt gave me. Near as I can tell, it's the same place for both the old version (that is the Fallout 3/New Vegas dual loader) and the new one (the latest Fallout 3 only loader).

Yes, well the reason I'm asking is because the latest version (unlike some earlier versions) should not be installed in the Fallout 3 directory, but outside of it. Otherwise any plugins you put/install into the data folder will remain invisible.

So basically, if you've installed FoMM into the Fallout 3 folder, you should un-install it and put it into some other folder.

Thank you Rampage. I uninstalled and then reinstalled FOMM outside the Fallout 3 directory. No luck: after loading up the Mods and activating them, they don't appear anywhere on the main screen for activation.

I found the problem: it wasn't the FOMM, it was that the Install Log is easily corruptible with all the crashes and blue screens of death I get. Reinstalling the old FOMM and nuking the Install Log fixed all of the FOMM and mod problems.
