samlyc11
I am currently considering upgrading to a GTX1080 from my GTX1060 6GB. From UserBenchmark, I can see that it is 74% faster, but of course it'll vary due to overclocks, so I will assume a worst case scenario of 70% performance increase. I currently use a 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor, and one of the games I play the most is Skyrim SE. With over 30 graphical improvement mods, in some locations such as Falkreath I can get lower than 30 FPS, which feels a little unplayable. However, in cities such as whiterun, and caves as well as other interiors, I can get a stable 50-60FPS. So,what kind of FPS increase can I expect from my GPU upgrade? I was hoping to run the game at a stable 60FPS all the time in all locations. Edited January 2, 2019 by samlyc11
HeyYou
The 1080 is a SIGNIFICANTLY more powerful card. I would expect at LEAST a 30% performance improvement. (and that's being conservative.....)
xrayy
for the 2650x1080 res the 1080 would be perfect. 4k 60fps seems even for my 1080ti a lttlebit too much (heavyly modded and ugridstoload=9). Edited May 4, 2019 by xrayy
jones177
I ran a GTX 1080 with SkyrimSE for a while. On my setup the only graphical mods the slow it down are Reshade and ENB. The textures I use don't slow it down but I only use 7.5mbs vram. I ran mine at 3440 X 1440 at 60fps with ENB and Reshade. Skyrim at it heart is a CPU game. The severity of the lows in the game are all CPU. The more powerful your CPU the better the experience. for the 2650x1080 res the 1080 would be perfect. 4k 60fps seems even for my 1080ti a lttlebit too much (heavyly modded). I ran the game 4k With a GTX 1080 ti as well. With my setup I was in the high 50s. It took a RTX 2080 ti to get the game over 60fps most of the time. maddogfargo
Vega 56 would be another good option. I currently have 64, and also had an MSI 1080 DUKE before. The cooler on my 1080 DUKE was fantastic. And it would do 2012 core out of the box. No tweaking necessary.
SHADOW2KK
GTX 1080 here too, runs SSE at 4k (heavily modded) at a more or less constant 60 fps. My fps would take a hit if I used ENBs but for personal taste I do not use them, preferred a darker grittier Skryim in the day, used RCRN, use RLO on SSE, does the job imo.
