Wrapien
I just did a fresh install because I was having problems with some of the mods not working correctly. I completely uninstalled Skyrim SE and Vortex and eliminated everything on my hard drives related to the game. I reinstalled Vortex and downloaded the game again from Steam. I installed the tools again including Loot, SSEEdit, BAE, and SSE NIF Optimizer. I then tried to load FNIS via Vortex and it did not install correctly. It seems that Vortex cannot deploy anything. When I checked the FNIS folder to run FNIS the first time, there was nothing in the FNIS Behavior data folder except a text file. I manually downloaded FNIS and copied the files into the data folder and was able to configure FNIS on the dashboard and by using the "Configure FNIS" button. I ran Loot from the dashboard and then used SSEEdit to clean the games ESM's. When I started downloading mods (Racemenu, SkyUI and XMSSE to start out with) they installed but I did not see the deploy message show up. Then I found that the deploy button is grayed out. The mods are not deploying. I am now wondering if Vortex is actually ready for use. I have been struggling to get the game functional for a week now and am at the point of giving up. I guess I have to go back to NMM if I expect to actually play the game.
Wrapien
Well, when I started up my PC this morning, the deploy function was working but now the Plugin tab is gone. Time to locate NMM and wait a year or so for this program to start working right.
Pickysaurus
Did you check your notifications? Deployment not working usually comes with a message to explain why.
Wrapien
Not important to me anymore. I went back to NMM.
