MichaelTorr
The more intelligence you have, the more points you can put into your skills when leveling up.Do temporary modifiers like alcohol and drugs effect this? For example, I'm drunk, that's a -1 intelligence and I happen to level up while under the influence. Also, what about intelligence cybernetic implant or clothing effects (maybe an article of clothing that gives a +1 intelligence). madmongo
Drugs and alcohol, clothing, and other temporary modifiers do not affect your skill points, but permanent modifiers like the cybernetic implants do affect your skill points.
dubiousintent
Please see the "Skill Points" and "Skill Rate" pages in "The Vault" wiki. Skill points are based upon your permanent INT. Temporary modifiers (technically "spell effects") like drugs have no effect on the permanent stats; only on derived, calculated results. "Items" such as clothing are "temporary" as well. Anything that raises the "permanent" stat (such as implants and skill books) does. -Dubious-
MichaelTorr
Thank you guys very much. The information you guys gave me is pretty much what I thought but I wanted to double check before building my new character. Because when it came to intelligence, I wasn't sure how many points to put in there. I knew I wanted a character who's gimmick was always being a drunk, and it would be a while before getting to Cass and getting her whiskey perk. Wasn't sure whether to stick an extra point of intelligence in there to compensate for the loss of an intelligence point due to drunkenness. So with this confirmation, I can start a new character.Isn't starting a new character with new mods and new Project Nevada settings, and beginning a new journey, always the most exciting part of the game :)Good bye ice cold January, I'm headed to New Vegas for the month :D
