EvenUsernameIsTakenIsTaken
Just wanted to download a mod, but I needed to make an account. That's okay, I thought, so I went to create an account, and I chose a free account which brings me to a list of different paid accounts. I really hate that sort of thing, I mean, I understand that you want money, but having the free option take you to a list of paid options is bad UX at best and deceptive at worst. I proceeded to type in my username, which was taken, which made me think I already had account, which seems familiar because I know I've been here before. I try to recover my account and it sends me an email to recover my mega.nz account? I thought this was odd, but I did it anyway, but it took me to a place where I had to enter a recovery key, which I might have somewhere but didn't care enough to look. In any case, I thought I knew my mega.nz password, and sure enough I did and logged in successfully. I don't know if this site's account system is connected to mega.nz in some way, but it did me no good to log in there, as I tried to log in here with the same information to no avail. Screw it, I thought, I'll make another account. All my normal usernames were taken, so I just typed in variations of "UsernameIsTaken", and as that's not a very original thing to do, they were all taken, and so I arrived with this username, which brings me to my next complaint. I don't know why, but your captchas are brutal. It served me every type of captcha they offer, one after another. The kind where you see a large picture that is split into squares and you have to select multiple that include the desired subject matter, the kind that show a bunch of different images and you have to choose what they are looking for, and the worst of them, the dreaded kind where when you select a picture they're looking for it turns white and you have to wait for a new one to appear VERY slowly. After solving 4 or 5 of these, I got my account, had to confirm my email address (that's fine, I agree this should be necessary) but after that then I had to log in. It would be nice if confirming the email address logged you in, because the login process required me to solve another list of captchas, and when I arrived at what I would have hoped would be the last one, I accidentally clicked outside the images which closed the captcha completely and I had to start again. To put it lightly, this was a pretty painful process just to download a 1MB zip file. I'll be sharing the zip file with any of my friends who want it, because I wouldn't even wish this mandatory account creation process on my enemies, let alone my friends. Dark0ne
I try to recover my account and it sends me an email to recover my mega.nz account? Err, can you clarify this part please? The "recover account" link on the login page should take you to this page: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?app=core&module=global§ion=lostpass From that page, you should enter either your username or your email address you used when registering, and an email will be sent to you titled "Password recovery information from The Nexus Forums". Are you saying this isn't what happened? If so, please run me through it, step by step. I've just tested the process myself and it works as it should, which makes me think you might have some malware or similar on your system that was redirecting you to somewhere it shouldn't be going. zachsaballer
I can't believe you had that much trouble getting a username.
