GOTHIC 2 RULES!!!!!

Okay, I am Swiss and so I had access to it and to the Addon-CD long before you, hehe. But Gothic 2 I think is far more better than Morrowind. Perhaps not the graphics, but the realism, the details, the characters, the story... I am acctually on a forum talking about what could be improved in G3. They acctually want to add horses and other mounts! Yeah! And of course, G3 will be far more larger than G2, probably the whole land of Myrtana (which lies on the continent, not on an island), perhaps some parts of Nordmar, the orcish countries and some parts of Varrant.

G2 is probably the best German game ever made. It is a lot better than most of the games coming from the american side of the Atlantic. Take that, Americans! I hated it how they killed Gothic 2 in american reviews. GRRRRRRR..... Why can't they just accept that also Germans can make a good game?

I do not know Gothic 2 but I agree with you when there are European Games somewhat bad classified, but great. Last one I played (still playing) is Hidden & Dangerous 2, from Czech Republic - great war game! Not worst than Call of Duty, Wolfenstein and similar!

Just wait for Perimeter, it's a Russian game IIRC. And Sacred looks very promising too, good replacement for Diablo 2.

Anyway, I couldnt get into Gothic 1&2 and stopped after 15 minutes, but I had the same problem with Morrowind the first times.

I ordered Sacred from the net and have got the demo until it arrives..

My views? Get it!!

Scared is brilliant. It is supposedly similar to Diablo 2, however, I have never played D2. Sacred just seems brilliant in the demo at least. The main quest involves joining the Emporers army to fight off orcs.. and guess what? Yes, there are horses :)

I just cannot wait until my copy arrives...

Anyone played Breed yet? It looked pretty promising. Wasn't it developed by CDV (who are German, right?).

I'm currently not certain, but yes, CDV is either from Germany or Austria. However, I read a review last month or so and the editor wasn't delighted at all. Basically he said that Breed has taken way too long to be finished (wherefore the graphics are far from being as good as people now expect them to be), and that there are some other serious points of criticism, among them monotonous gameplay and a lack of fun when steering vehicles because the camera angle is unplayable.

Back to Gothic II, I own both the original game and the add-on and love them (although I didn't cope very well with being a magician, I trained my characters totally wrong so he wasn't a challenge for any enemy later on :P).

And concerning the "graphics inferiority", I tend to disagree. It is true that Gothic II has less detailed models (to a good part caused by the simple fact that it is still running with the engine of Gothic I, now aged 4 years IIRC), but especially in regards to flora Gothic II is a lot more detailed and atmospheric than Morrowind (which indeed can become a bit boring with its continuously bleak landscapes).

tell me about this add-on. I have the English V1.32, does that have the add-on bundled inside? Another strange thing is that the disks I got (off Ebay) say "For Sale Only in Thailand"... what the hell?

Anyway, I am very happy with the game. Many parts are better than MW, especially that I'm not invincible after 20 hours gameplay!

Any advice?

The add-on was originally called "Die Nacht des Raben" ("Night of the Raven" if you translate it literally). It adds a northern part of the island Khorinis and more or less a second main quest as well as a good deal of creatures, items (also a new category, belts) and three new factions. Additionally, the game becomes a good deal harder (in the original game you could slaughter all orcs in the Mining Colony on your second visit there; you are very tough if you can do that with the add-on installed).
