I thought 580 was basically the more refined version of same design. DoctorKaizeld, there should be Navi based AMD cards coming out this year, and those are supposed to give a huge performance jump for the same money. This is not a good time to buy. jones177 Posted January 29, 2019 Share Posted January 29, 2019 Hi I consider 8gbs vram the new minimum for heavy modding. I use up to 9.5gbs vram without using the silly high res DLC. I play at 4k but the amount of vram used does not go down when I drop the resolution. I consider 8gbs enough because when I upgraded from a GTX 980 ti(6gbs) to a 1080(8gbs) I got more frame plus a lot less CTDs. When I upgraded from a GTX 1080(8gbs) to a 1080 ti(11gbs) all I got was more frames. For resolutions over 1080p it would be better to save for a more powerful 8gb card.
