Duckman on gun control

I agree totally with what Marxist Bastard says and the tweet he linked to.

Than would you please pack your cases and move to a gun-free zone like the workers paradise North Korea. Or Cuba? Or Belarus?

Whilst I find it difficult to envision using these assault type weapons for hunting - it's not how we do it over here, old chap - it's pretty clear that banning them doesn't do a fat lot of good for the rate of gun crime. I am not in favour of the level of gun control we have in Britain
.

IT ISN'T FOR F HUNTING

When did you people get that into your heads?!!!! Do you know anything about history?!! Its for fighting, its for war, it is what set us free!! Don't bore me with that hunting sh tuff anymore.

I don't necessarily agree with Moveing in the sense that governments should allow automatic weapons, but I think he is correct that the second amendment has nothing to do with hunting or self defense. It is for the defense of your nation, or if necessary a revolution. Edited by marharth

I didn't say that the Second Amendment did, marharth. I have actually read it, in fact at some point all of the US Constitution, comparitive and constitutional law were compulsory parts of my degree. And I do know a huge amount about history, including the American War Of Independence and the rationale behind the US Constitution and amendments. I guess my British ironic sense of humour just went over people's heads. As it happens, I do know some people (not Brits obviously) who use semi automatics for hunting, and it is that to which I was referring. Humorously....

I just don't feel that strict gun laws work because the criminals ignore them anyway. That being the case, they play with fire they should expect to get burned, whether it happens to be me firing a 20 bore ladies game gun or a deer rifle up their rears, or someone with an automatic. It's deplorable that in my country people have been jailed for murder for defending themselves and their property with firearms - Tony Martin, for example.

Wasn't meant as a reply to you, just wanted to say that as a reply to everyone in thread. Not really following this debate much, so don't see most of the posts.

Even if you had assault weapons do you honestly thinki you could bring down the government? and how would they react?. This second ammendment idea is completely outdated IMO.

Ouh Yeah, the Bill of Rights is totaly outdated. :wallbash:

Don't you people get it that the unique secound amendment is the last thing which protected the whole western world from tyranny? "How you would bring down a government with guns" The Americans and the Swiss wrote many Books in the last century about fighting asymetric wars against corrupt or occupied governments. Hey you fools out there, Human History is 98% Tyranny. Crazied Kings with STDs and levies suffering under a giant Tax burden so that Prince X can low up some firework every evening. That is the Norm. That is why the founders said we as humans need as much feedom as it get and the option to bring down and kill the corrupt ruling class.

"the 2nd is outdated, what you wanna do against a government with just a rifle".. An Army can't stand a chance against an armed population, and even if Bullets where outdated against modern armies... RPGs are also Arms under the BoR.

Do you know how angry i get, knowing the taste of tyranny, when i read this?

IF things ever got to the point where the new Gestapo/SMERSH/KGB was jackbooting around America and doing the things fascist/socialists/communists like to do to people, I wouldn't want to live in a United States like that. I don't want to be politcally reducated (id est shot in the back of the head and thrown into pit) because I don't think like the Reichsführers/Kommmisars want me to. Maybe...just MAYBE I wanna do something about these hypotheical FEMA storm troopers rounding up my neighbors and generally ignoring the organic rights of humans. But WAIT! I CAN'T! Because in this hypothetical dark future enough sheep-ple believed The Constitution could be ignored and the Second Amendment was outdated. Welcome to the Several States of Amerika.

Not that any of this matters. I'm speaking in hypotheticals. And hypothetically the Neo-whatever-ists can take up all the firearms. Let them. It won't affect guys like me, hypothetically. In theory, I could have everything I need in one day and get it all from local hardware stores. Within a week guys like me would be back in business...again...hypothetically. Of course I wouldn't be 'in it' by myself but no one would know and no one would talk about it. It would kinda be a secret. :ninja:

Anyway, everyone knows a pack of under-equipped, untrained and unorganized rebel-rabble can't change the course of history. Vive la Revolution, baby! :woot:

Aaand Aurielius is still right, because here I am, one of the USUAL SUSPECTS.

"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand? . . ."
