Hand/Finger clipping through weapon in 1st Person

Hello dear People,

after spending nearly a full day on modding Fallout New Vegas, I've encountered a weird weapon glitch where it clips the hand through

the weapon barrel with certain weapons.

Here is a gallery so you see what I mean:

It is with larger weapons like shotguns and rifle.

I have attached my load order and here is a list of the mods that I am using:

Has anybody experienced a similar problem and knows a fix?

Thank you for your reply

"Clipping" like that generally means you are using the wrong texture files for the meshes in question. That can happen when you use more than one "texture replacement" mod for the same weapon. This can occur even with mods you do not think from their description contain either mesh or texture replacements, but are heavily dependent upon them (such as animation or body replacements).

The best way to avoid this is to install and TEST each mod individually so you know which is causing the unexpected change. Failing that, please see the 'Mod Conflict Isolation' section of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" article.

If you have more than one mod that makes any change to the same record or set of records in the vanilla game, then you really need to use a "Merge Patch File" with that collection of mods. Please see the 'Third Rule: The Rule of One' and 'Merge Patch File' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

I recommend anyone read the entire "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to understand the differences between this game and others you may have experience with; especially if this is your first attempt to mod FNV or it's been more than a year since you last did so.

It's not a texture problem, but a mesh problem. The textures do not have any form, but are stretched to cover a mesh.

One way to visualize it is a mesh is the framework and the texture is the fabric that covers the frame.

It could be caused by using a weapon mod that does not have the collision set up properly and the hand in the default position for a two handed weapon.

I have seen worse and since it is just a short time that it is visible, I just ignore it.

It's neither the collision or texture. It's simply how game handles weapon animations. Weapon holding animation is shared between weapons of the same type. For example, both Hunting rifle and Varmint rifle use same animation set. Some weapon mesh might be thicker, so normally, that would result in clipping. Not much can be done about it.

Well I have found out, that the Mod "A Familiar Friend" which replaces the PipBoy with the handheld Pipboy 2500 caused one of the problems. Now it looks a lot smoother, but the finger mesh or texture looks a bit streched.

I am using nexus mod manager, is it save to just create another profile and then turn one mod off at a time?

I believe so (though I don't use it myself). It is my understanding that it (and MO and MO2) work from the idea of an "empty Data folder", and populate the game "Data" folder from the "profile" mods each game session. Switch the profile in use and get a different set of mods.
