Some poetry I've been writing this summer

Hello, everyone. I was somewhat active last summer, particularly; then I disappeared... But now I'm back! :D

Anyways, let me reintroduce myself. The name's Elli (though some may prefer to call me Chi). I write poetry sometimes, as a hobby, though I really only share it with my friends on Facebook.

 

Here are some free-verse poems I've written so far this summer vacation that I would like to share with you all.

There is no reason for me to be here.

I've been stripped away, rotten to the core.

So feast upon me! Devour me!

Burrow through my flesh and thrive on my bones!

Clean up every last bit of filth I have wrought upon this forsaken world!

You will have done a great deed.

 

{De Tout Mon Cœur} [With All My Heart]

Mon chéri:

Tu es parti trop vite,

mais tu es devenu froid.

Tu me manques,

mais ne rentre pas.

Tu n'es pas mon chéri.

 

[My darling:

You left too soon,

but you became cold.

I miss you,

but do not come home.

You are not my darling.]

I can sing you a song. If you are willing to hear,

wind me up.

I can tell you my secrets. If you are willing to listen,

wind me up.

 

Wind me up. If I must,

I will continue to sing the same song.

Wind me up. If you don't mind,

I will repeat the same story.

 

But I've gone out of tune. You've used me too much.

Don't wind me up.

I've lost my timbre. You've become bored.

Don't wind me up.

 

Put me down. I'm broken.

I'm way beyond repair.

Throw me out. I'm replaceable.

I will be forgotten.

Sweet fibers twisted wildly around my neck

and gently braided together into a lovely memory.

Quickly, it tightened - bitterly taut.

 

It tangled. I was clumsy. Choking.

It knotted. I was careless. Suffocating.

Asphyxiation. Pain.

 

It will take time to sever these threads,

but I can only suspend for so long.

This noose, too, may end my suffering.

 

{Confessions}

June 25, 2012

 

Smiles cracked from false hopes.

Tears of denial gave way to maniacal laughs.

Ignorant dreams have broken its promises of happiness,

and have, in turn, broken me.

 

This and that,

all of it,

even living, even breathing,

were just thoughtless ways to kill time.

 

My heart is unreal,

as is yours,

and everyone else's.

I came unprepared.

We float mindlessly in this world.

Nonsense.

We're only human.

Still...

We stray from consistencies through spurts of insanity.

Dissatisfaction.

You're human.

Still, we...

We mask harsh realities with feigned confidence.

Deceit.

We're inhumane.

Still, we steadily...

We exchange compassion for ruthlessness.

Absurdity.

You're only inhumane.

Still, we steadily drift.
