ermitaBoy
I love playing Skyrim and in fact I have played through and completed on the side of stormcloaks. I replayed the game hoping to finish this on imperial. Along the way I have been downloading countless mods through NMM and have encountered so many bugs, CTDs, and other glitches. Somehow I have resolve most of it... not always to my satisfaction though. My present problem is that in spite having accomplished all the necessary quests (and side quests - Trust me I use Skyrim wiki guide ) to become Thane that would allow me to buy (I have all the gold in the world) Proudspire, Honeyside, Vlindrel and Hjerim - the Stewards (Falk Firebread, Anuriel, Jorleif, Raerek and Proventus) are now missing the particular "dialogue" line that would allow me to purchase the houses (they still have the other dialogues unrelated to house purchases). Although I'm not computer savvy but I'm willing to learn and can follow instructions. I don't know if this is mod related and if so it's hard for me to zero in which as I have quiet a lot of it, including those that I have already uninstalled. Please help........ gsmanners
Do you own Breezehome?
ermitaBoy
Do you own Breezehome? As a matter of fact I do. But it was already there not because Proventus sold it to my character but because of the existence of the old mod I already have Bert's Breezehome (not yet updated to brrm format). Is this the problem perhaps?
gsmanners
I'm not sure, but I think a lot of the house-buying code is either tied to Breezehome or the main quest or both. I really should check that out with the CK some time.
berticus0001
None of my mods affect or change the stewards in any way at all so I'd be surprised!bert
CoGDork
I'd like to add to this as this is in fact a problem that has--not once, ever, period--been addressed in mods, unofficial patches, fixes, etc. Not enough attention is being given to this problem. I actually took the time to do a console search for the Stormcloak steward in Markarth (one of those who I should be able to buy a home from simply because the Stormcloaks have Markarth), and it seems the dialogue option itself... is no longer there. As in, the game no longer recognizes it, or it is somehow gone. Why no one pays attention to this is a mystery to me. I have even made clear in advance that, yes, I did complete Dragon Rising, yes, the Jarl did give me permission, yes, I have cleaned everything, tried an entirely new game with no mods, uninstalled/reinstalled the game from scratch digitally, etc., but nada. Yet, what is the first suggestion? "complete Dragon Rising." And no one else replies. ...Sorry, got a little upset there. But it is strange that it hasn't been addressed yet. Valkasha
No one pays attention to it because it's not a vanilla bug, it's something you messed up yourself.
CoGDork
So if I make a mistake, but don't know what mistake I made, I apparently deserved it? No hope for anyone telling me what the mistake may have been or how to fix it? IS there a way to restore dialogue that somehow went missing? Because I have done the full game uninstall/reinstall by the book (as in, I was as careful as humanly possible to do it right based on every online source of information about that I could find), and that didn't restore it.
