Hasmith99
I've got all the performance bug fixes I think, but for some reason I can't get a steady fps. I don't even think it's my mods bringing it down, since when I turn them all off the fps is about the same. Anyone have any idea how to fix this? Deleted58783396User
Their are some very demanding mods out there, especially mods that add/overhaul the Grass/Trees: can you list your mods, so i can advise and get a better picture of what type of setup you have. are you running an ENB ? as this will have the most performance impact. especially specific settings, such as SSAO. Skyrim Special Edition: Ambient Occlusion (SSAO, HBAO) and Antialiasing can be pretty demanding, and Especially Godrays, and Shadows (Which will have the highest impact on performance, as Skyrim uses the Processor much more then the GPU, its the Processors job to draw Shadows) etc etc, so the first thing to choose, will be the options that is optimal for your hardware (so if you have a pretty weak system, then dont pick HBAO 16x antialisiang, and Maximium Shadow Quality + Draw Distance for all options. otherwise it will be entirely down to your hardware, as well as which Operating System you are running, windows 10 is more demanding then windows 7 and older. and likewise Skyrim Special Edition is more demanding the Skyrim Legendary Edition (Oldrim) Also as mentioned a bit above, Skyrim Uses the Processor (CPU) much more then the GPU, so your CPU will need to be pretty powerful. as it has 1 of the heaviest jobs, which is Drawing Shadows. (which is why performance can drop quite a bit, if you happen to be using maximum shadow quality and distance, its not so bad on skyrim, as it is on Fallout 4 where having high shadow draw distance completely annihilates performance) Whats your Hardware Specs ? What ENB are you running (if any) ? and how much Resources is Skyrim Using - Use Resource monitor/Performance Monitor - or Msi Afterburner, or any other Overlay that displays, Memory Usage and Tempertures, GPU Usage and Temperures and CPU Usage And Tempertures. Also What Tempertures are you getting, if your hardware is overheating it will throttle itself to prevent damage, this in turn results is less then optimal performance. Also ensure that all power options are set to Maximum Performance, as by Default they are set to optimal power, which results in less then optimal performance, this can also result in terrible performance. ============Power Options - change these below if not done so already, to get the maximum performance out of your hardware (Note: This is only Applicable to Desktop PC. laptops need power management set to optimal power)============ Windows: Click on Start - Control Panel - Power Options - Click on the Drop Down Box, located at the Far Right bottom, and then click on, High Performance Mode Nvidia: Right Click on Desktop - Nvidia Control Panel - Click on Manage 3d Settings - Locate: Power Management mode, Click on the Drop Down Box, and Select: Prefer Maximum Performance, also on the Vsync Setting click on the drop down box, and select: OFF you will want to use a Framerate Limiter, so you will also want to disable Skyrim Vsync as well, and either use the ENB framerate limiter (found in, the enblocal.ini) or use Msi Afterburner (Rivertuner) you dont actually need an ENB preset to get the performance benefits that the ENB Series can Offer, so if your system is not good enough to run an ENB, simply download the ENB Series, and all you need is the enblocal.ini file, and the 2 DLL files. Note: To disable Skyrim's Vsync go here: C:\Users\Your Computer Name\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition - Open SkyrimPrefs.ini, and Locate: iVSyncPresentInterval=1 (Change to 0) so it now looks like this: iVSyncPresentInterval=0 now all Vsync will be Disabled. the framerate limiter will eliminate Screen Tearing aswell as Input Lag, and potentially performance drops (it can in fact increase framerate as well)
Hasmith99
I have quite a few of mods: https://imgur.com/a/iWLTXF1I'm confused though cause I did a test where I disabled all of them and the performance was the same. I have ENB installed, but I turn it off since I only use it for the fps counter. Leaving it on reduces my fps my about 10 frames. How do I get these performance benefits? I have a i7-6700k cpu @ 4.00GHz, 16gb RAM, and an AMD Radeon R9 390 I turned on high performance mode, is there anything else I can do?
Deleted58783396User
in your Enblocal.ini, (found where skyrim and its launcher is) - open it, and look for this: [LIMITER]EnableFPSLimit=true <-- change to false (or change the below to 60)FPSLimit=60.0 <-- change to 60 if it is not already. that setting if enabled will lock the framerate to whatever is in the second box, their is a possiblity that your FPSLimit is set to 40, that means your fps will never exceed 40. Note: the above for limiter, is my own settigs which i have not changed, yet, it really sounds like your is set to 40. as disabling all mods would have for sure increased fps.
