takes really long to save

I guess I have installed way too many mods and now it takes more than 30 secs to save/quick-save/auto-save.

Is there a way to know which mods are responsible for the extra saving time so I may know which one I should get rid of?

I was literally just having the same problem as you dude and I was using a 3 year old hard drive. I tried uninstalling mods and stuff to see if it would help speed up saving but no joy. I just decided that it's an old game and that with all these mods saving isn't going to get much faster unless I upgrade hardware.

I bought a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500GB and it put my load times from literally 25+ secs to like 3-4 seconds to quicksave and 5-6 seconds to load.

You can buy a 250GB version for around £70, but it's not as good for storing many games and all your apps.

If you're able to afford one I'd highly recommend making it apart of your PC build as it just speeds everything up, windows boots in like 10 seconds, games start in a few seconds, all loading screens from any game are really fast, opening applications while a game is running is instant.

I understand your pain though, waiting 30 seconds every save and load really breaks the immersion and actually kills the whole experience - makes it super boring.

Sorry if this didn't help but I believe this is the best way to fix the problem you're having.

Yeah I can understand, but the difference between having a hard drive and SSD or m.2 nvme is quite significant.

I don't know what type of storage you are using but if it is a hard drive it will be contributing to the insane load times.

Video example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCDQaE9N-eo&t

I do understand as well that when I had no mods the game loaded fine, but as I added more and more mods it was getting slower and slower. I tried finding ways to decrease load/save times by searching for mods on nexus, searching for tutorials on YouTube and other things but there was literally nothing. So I just presumed the reason no one was talking about it was because the majority of people in the modding community that heavily mod their games have good specs which includes having an SSD for fast load speeds.

This topic seems like such a big issue but no one talks about it so this is why I think it may be the solution to the problem.

The only solution I found was disabling autosave on travel, wait and rest, which just made loading from cell to cell faster but saving manually still remained really long.

There probably is a solution besides forking out money for more PC parts but it's probably on some mad techy level that most people just wouldn't know about.

That's all i can offer I'm afraid but good luck on getting your problem fixed

I just read up on my ssd and it was 3500mb/s read and 3200mb/s write which would probably explain our load/save time differences but besides hardware I'm really no use and have no idea what could be causing it other than the amount of mods. Reading up on whether the mods you have installed are 'Script heavy' might be worth while, looking through forums apparently 'script heavy' mods cause long load/save times.

Are you enabling all of those style options in XPMSE? If so, you might try disabling those. Doing that in my game greatly reduced the time it takes to save. Also, do not allow saves to be overwritten. This may not help that much in an existing game, but it is a cheap fix if it works. If you have all those styles enabled for your character and all npcs, I suspect you co-save file is quite large.
