Kahenraz
I'm about ready to explode!! Not out for another few weeks!! Yea, and I'm sure that after I get home from Walmart I'll find that my system will crank about ~7fps on Doom3. At least HL2 is supposed to run on everything accross the board. I've bought all of my virtual stocks. :D
loveme4whoiam
I too cannot wait for HL2; Doom 3, slightly less anxious for, but thats probably because i'ma wuss and don't like dark, evil pits where human flesh is flensed from the bone. I'm not in too much of a hurry for either though; until i can get a job and upgrade, i'm not playing nada on my PC :(
Marxist ßastard
I think it'd benefit you to follow some of the links in my sig, who (love and loveme don't exactly sound right in this context). Given your avatar, I think you may get a kick out of the Debian link. ...Now let's just slowly back away from this and keep our fingers crossed in hopes that Darky doesn't lock the thread after comparing Half-Life 2 to Duke Nukem Forever and declaring us all traitors to nVidia. Dark0ne
I think I'll just quote my recent musings on games in general and let people analyse and answer to them... RE: What game I'm looking forward to (surprise, its not HL2)Queue the up and coming Starship Troopers game. Anyone seen the film? If you've seen the film you'll recall the scene when they're defending the outpost from a trap set by the aliens. The opening scenes of the battle when literally hundreds upon hundreds of aliens are swarming towards the base? Put that in a game and thats one hell of a party. The game developers claim they have recreated this scene, with their custom built engine, allowing over 240 aliens on the screen at any one time. Now if this is true, just give me a damn gun and let me scream "You want some, huh? You want some? Yea, you like that? Huh? You want some more? huh? HUH?" all night. THATS what gets me excited, not some car thats been over polished then smashed into a big block of metal. Referencing this to HL2, HL2 graphics may look good but (1) despite what the smacktards at Valve say, the code they had at the time of E3 WAS NOT unscripted. All of it was scripted, meaning you'll be playing the same game everytime you replay it (if it were unscripted what you did would affect how the story and gameplay unfolds). (2) Its MEANT to be made for "across the board" computer systems. In other words, they're going to be limiting the amount of stuff that happens on the screen at once (the sort of stuff I like) so that the gimps with crappy systems can play with 5 fps instead of 1 fps. Good thinking. Half-Life 2? What a joke. I've lost all faith in Valve since the flop of Steam and the bull crap they feed us about game delays. Screw Valve, their time has been and gone. I now HOPE that Half-Life 2 will join Duke Nukem Never in production hell and Valve will pay for the torment they have caused me! Simply put... Steam < Auto-Updaters. Steam < HLSW Steam COULD work if it were supported by many stable servers. Unfortunately it isn't and Valve didn't really know how many people actually play their games online. Hence why half the time when I try to update the game it fails, which is highly annoying to say the least. I mean, what was wrong with auto-updaters? What was wrong with HLSW? Sigh. I don't think anything will be able to top HL2 Think you're putting too much faith into the name and not paying enough attention to what the developers are doing. That is..thinking because they've stuck a "2" on the end of Half-Life its going to be great. Fact is half the stuff they claimed Half-Life 2 would be/do have been disproven by the source code leaks which clearly indicate they've been doing jack-all work for the past few years. I wouldn't trust to Half-Life 2 being game of the year (oh, especially not this year). The fact of the matter is none of us will know until the game is finally released. I have no doubts I'll enjoy the game, but I have HIGH doubts about all the crap they're feeding us about this game which seem to have been ripped to shreds by these so called hackers. I remain unswayed, Starship Troopers is the game I'm most looking forward to (not least because I just like the storyline to the film...thin, but sweet :)). Zmid
Just to put my two cents in re Half-Life 2, from what I've seen, it looks fantastic, and from what the developers say, it should play fantastic, but I have seen such hype before, and the result was nothing like the hype, so I wouldn't get my hopes up.
