damiandamian2
I'm using 4gb with NVSE and steam treats me like I'm playing non-steam game, disallowing getting achievements. Is there some way to use 4gb and getting achievements?
Cynthetic
u dont need the 4gb enabler with an 64bit system... this was for 32 bit system to increase the ram usage.. on 64 bit system this does only altered the adress space.
JimboUK
You do need the 4GB exe on a 64bit system, the game itself is not large address aware and is limited to 2GB of RAM. As for achievements, have you opened the console? that disables them, I don't remember the 4GB loader doing it, that said I use the console constantly for screenshots so rarely get achievements anyway. damiandamian2
No console, as far as I remember. But, doesn't console-lock-out of achievements is only until quitting New Vegas?
damiandamian2
Looks like achievements work, in the end. Now, why my level 23 character didn't get his level 20 achievement, that will be different riddle, I guess...
Smannesman
OK so this is a late reply, but I have noticed the same thing. After some testing I've come to the conclusion that you don't get achievements while using the 4GB loader with Steam in the offline mode. I guess this is because the Steam client doesn't really recognize your game when using the 4GB loader. Not entirely sure why they work when you're online and use the 4GB loader though, I'm guessing the ingame Steam API contacts the server directly when online and perhaps adds the achievements to some kind of queue when offline which doesn't work because the game isn't recognized.I've tested it multiple times with the NVSE 4GB loader and just with the NVSE loader and online/offline during two playthroughs of the game, so I'm pretty confident I'm correct about the 4GB loader and offline mode. @damian622 were you perhaps playing offline when you reached level 20? Xedric
The above is correct because I use the nvse4gb loader and after about six seconds, my steam account shows that I'm no longer playing a non-steam game, but I'm now playing New Vegas. I can get achievements just fine, the only issue for me is when I close it, the 4gb loader doesn't close, I'm forced to open the task manager and close it. The really weird thing is that it drops to ~2000 K memory usage instead of Fallout's usual 300,000 K or something like that.
jimnms
I'm going resurrect this thread since it's the most recent one I've found on this issue. Something is not right with achievements and the NVSE 4GB exe. I recently starting playing FNV again after having quit a long time ago before completing the game despite Steam saying I have 280+ hours (long story involving bugs, patches breaking things, corrupt save etc). I'm using the fnv4gb.exe downloaded from nvse.silverlock.org. I have the nvse files as well as the fnv4gb.exe and fnv4gb_helper.dll in the main FNV directory. I seem to be getting achievements for quests, but not other things. I do not have the Jury Rigger (Repair 30 items), Crafty (Craft 20 items) or No Tumbler Fumbler (Pick 25 locks) achievements even though the PipBoy's stats page shows I've repaired hundreds of items, crafted hundreds of things and picked well over 25 locks. I also don't have achievements like Lead Dealer (Cause 10,000 damage with Guns) which I should have by now at level 27 and having used only conventional guns the entire time.
