Khet
I have a fairly nice computer, that can run Oblivion on pretty high settings without much stuttering. Do text documents and images in your data folder count towards the max amount? Nope, only .ESPs and .ESMs files count. Pretty interesting problem you have there.... have you tried disabling say (random number here) ten of the mods you KNOW work, then enable the mods you are having problems with and running the game that way? If they work then, my guess is it is some kind of limiting problem.
nosisab
I'll not even try to count the esm/sps in that load list, just say something like 253 is the absolute limit and this doesn't depend on the computer power, instead is the absolute number that fits in a byte minus a few reserved. I don't really know why Oblivion is limiting the amount of mods that much, but it is definitely the problem. I do have alot of mods I don't really care about much, so I'll just disable them to get more room if there isn't any other way to fix it.
Khet
Yeah, it can be wierd sometimes. Dunno how many mods you have but you COULD count your active ESP/ESM and see if you're at the limit, but either way, I would disable the minor mods that you don't really use/notice that much, heh. Upon reflection of me own post I realized I can disable like six mods I don't even use anymore (armor mods mostly) heh
UnholyShadow
Yes, same with me :P but I am not at the limit, pretty weird problem.
