LE Romance/Marriage Overhaul?

We know there is a marriage system going on in Skyrim, but it feels...lacking. I don't have to explain it, do I? You have to wear a necklace to marry someone close to you. You don't go out on dates, get to know them, or spend quality time with them. Besides going to battle with you, you'll know almost NOTHING about your "mate." Even after marriage, you feel limited. You know what else we'd like? ( Trust me when I say lots of people will agree with me), your own newborn CHILDREN! That's right, bitches, children! I get why Oblivion couldn't do that; because there weren't any children at all. But, here, in Skyrim (bless you, Bethesda!) there are actual vanilla children!

 

So, to get to the point, here's what I'm requesting, on behalf of myself and future players: Make a romance mod/overhaul. Make it so we can date, get to know each other (do something creative), give gifts, marry, have children, and just plain outright be happy with your family. Honestly, the vanilla romance system disgusts me. I don't feel anything towards my spouse. Even if she was to die right in front of my face, I wouldn't care. Sounds harsh, doesn't it? Well, how do expect me to feel bad for someone I don't know anything about?

 

On a side request, MAKE A KISSING MOD! I don't know why the f*** Oblivion couldn't do it, considering there are 2 mods with actual kiss scenes in them -.- Don't disappoint me, modders!

Everything about marriage in Skyrim repulsed me except for the fact that it was at least, and I mean least, there. Wear an amulet and now you can suddenly get married to someone? An amulet? What about the many people out there who don't fall for that silly nord "wear an amulet and start shagging" crap? Skyrim is supposed to be large, yet everyone must go to the temple of mara in gods-forbid Riften home of the thieves guild?

That isn't to point out how hugely impersonal the marriage is, which that touches on. But yes. It is hugely impersonal. And apparently everyone makes the same children in only two flavors; male or female. So surly the reason YOU can't get a child is because you don't know the secret password all the cool people know to have one shipped to you from Kids R Us. (Or perhaps Kids Exchange? XD) in one of their two models. They don't ship to any other race but Nord, but if your a Dark Elf you might be able to bribe them. (The dark elf child who looks just like any other NORD kid.)

 

That drow mod did good on the kids, it actually looked like a younger drow instead of a clown/lump of flesh colored clay.

 

 

I'd love love love, #1, a mod that expanded the marriage system to be more in depth (Preferably very in depth). It is a Roleplaying game after all. Why can't we ever roleplay love without being in some cheap lame and completely 2d japanese romance game?

FINALLY! SOMEONE UNDERSTANDS ME! Hopefully modders will open their eyes and listen to us for once :P But, you're right, at least marriage IS there, even though it's atrocious.

I have to agree, expanding marriage would be a great addition.

 

I also second the request for a kissing mod. I was going to make my own thread about this subject but since you have mentioned it here I'll agree in this thread about my request for it as well.

 

However I would also like to add, if someone was to take up the request, then add in different styles. Something like kissing the hand, french kissing, a quick peck etc.

I agree and would absolutely love a proper romance & marriage system.

 

To be fair to modders - I doubt that they haven't listened. The project means LOTS of dialogue for LOTS of NPCs if it's going to be done right. Even more work if you want voices for that dialogue. I don't mod myself so I have no idea what kind of scripting that all would take. In the end it's really a matter of a diligent modder or a team getting together and putting their skills to work. I just hope it happens. Until then I have my eye on Atvir Dres - there's promise of a proper romance in the future.
