Demon Helm – bound gloves for 60 sec?

Somebody please tell me what the Demon Helm does. Is it even worth holding on to? I’ve activated the “bound gloves” but they don’t seem to do much for me. However, I’ll be honest I haven’t spent a lot of time using the helm because it also makes my armor rating worse … at least when the gloves are no activated. Not sure if the gloves affect armor rating at all.

 

As far as price goes it seems to be a relatively valuable helm. I found it while searching for bonebiter in a labyrinth of caves. Also ran across magebane sword which is worth about 32000 gold. I don’t have any questions about how it works …

It gives you a better armor rating because it gives temporary daedric gloves, wich are a nice and powerful armor artifact. But since you're not the type of armor as Demon Helm is, I really don't know if you want to keep it.

The Bound Gloves are essentially gauntlets, so that's why they increase your armor rating. They also fortify hand-to-hand attack.

 

It's a wierd item. I've come across several of them.

Note that bound armor seems not to correspond to any armor type skill (or unarmored either). Consequently it always has an armor rating of 80 regardless of your skill level in Light/Medium/Heavy Armor or Unarmored. This makes it good armor for a beginnning character but much less so for a character with a high skill level for one or more types of armor. (Bound armor may always be a better class than Unarmorded which I've heard tops out at 60 something.)

 

So the bound gauntlets may well not help your character while the daedric guantlets with the same appearance might help a good deal more (with a high heavy armor skill) or a good deal less (with a very low heavy armor skill).
