kungfubellydancer
I have a problem speaking. As I began to say on another thread, you should be glad this is all text and not spoken, or you will probably have no idea what I am talking about if you heard me speak. It may be confusing, and I am not a psychiatrist so I can't explain you the exact processes, but this is my theory. When I want to say something, the words will appear in my mental vision like how they ought to. But, when I begin to read off these words in the form of speech, I am somehow "blinded" and can't see the next words properly. I basically forget what I am going to say as I am saying it. So the spoken result is often jumbled and/or missing ideas. Now, when I type I am transferring visualized text into text on the screen, so its far easier. Plus there is always the backspace button. However, sometimes you can see that my thoughts, though complete and in intelligible sentences, are mixed up and/or missing important ideas. Combined with the great disappointment in anything I create, I never read over what I write, even in schoolwork :( So, an example of a common thing you might hear me say; if I wanted to say "Are we going to the movie theaters next week to see the movie XYZ?" It may come out as, "So, um, next week, the movie XYZ is the planned movie, the movie XYZ is what we are going to watch?" Though my family is used to it and usually understand what I am talking about, it can be problematic when speaking to strangers. Sometimes its difficult to order food if I want it custom ordered. I could never pursue a career that involved a lot of speaking, especially artful speaking, such as in politics or business.

kungfubellydancer
I left that last post unwritten here on my desktop for the past 3 hours, because in the middle of writing I had to tend to my child. But when I submitted it I noticed that the thread acquired a 3rd page, so I read everyone else's posts. I have to say I was very pleased with Aeryn's post. Thank you! I will have to try what you suggest. If it works, you would have helped me change something I had lived with for most of my life. And I now as I think about it, I think its also connected with my need to put people first. I was raised in a house teaching many morals, one of which, put others before yourself. Sometimes this gets mixed up with "please others before pleasing yourself" so I am constantly struggling with trying to please me or the rest of the people. Often I look at a piece of art, for example, and wonder, if I were a different person, would I like it or not? So this sort of confused thinking comes into play about whether my personality and my looks "please" others or pleases me. Though I am hardly known to be a doormat, pleasing others or putting others first is something that gets mixed up in my mind.

Eh like writing just one post is a chore for me, la. It takes a long time.., with spell check, and proof reading..ect..,and I like that there is a edit button here..I use allot..Eh like I have been misunderstood more times than I can remember, and people get angry sometimes, and there I am what did I say, and then people getting worse for I am not acknowledging what I wrote or said wrong, and I am really clueless for real.. Eh like what I see in me head does not always come out the way, I see it.. I go around, in circles, to get where I am going sometimes, and people lose patience I know this, with my long posts..Eh like I have this set of dominos, its all connected I know, and I have to follow them, to get to what I need to say or I lose what it is..Here I am, with a genius IQ so I am told, and a mind that's wired so different in how it processes, which make me oft times look like an Eegit..Throw in my cultrual slang I use from here in West Cork, only makes it worse..la Eh like its how my mind works, so my post are oft long, and I knowits why some get passed by, no-one says anything, and me few people who come to know me do read them, but many I am sure, get lost and just skip them..eh like misunderstanding has become a way of life for me, and me having to tell people before you react ask me what I meant...beacsue oft what one thinks I meant is not, because of wording its taken wrong, so I do understand somewhat what your saying...and can empathise at least to the frustartion part of thinkihg different than others, and all that..la Ps..Opps..Failte(welcome)I noticed you answered me, aye try it, as me wise auld Grans use to say, what do you have to lose, it worked for me, la...it Will work if you do it the way I explained it, after a time, it will.. buddah
I regret nothing in the past, this cannot be changed, what I shall regret are the mistakes that I have in front of me. May they be few and minor. Buddah
Chesto
I regret the degree to which i empathize with some people. Not the whole world. I dont anguish, as perhaps i should, over stuff in the world over which i can never have any control. No... just some people. People who take the time to post on these forums, for example. And it can be crippling at times, this empathizing.Of course, empathy could just be a way of avoiding putting to rights one's own problems. There is that.Awwww. humanbean234
My real regrets pertain to some youthful indiscretions in Recreational Chemistry, which earned me quite a few False Friends and currently make it highly difficult for me to get a good Security Clearance in my career. Too many wasted hours, dollars, and brain-cells. Awww....
Chesto
I regret that this thread got sidetracked for a bit until, completely without my knowledge, some rather interesting invisible mending took place. I hope that there is life in it yet. I apologize if this is necro...copro...agro...one of the Os, and it is more than a month old. I regret any moral quanderies posed to the moderators for this heinous crime. Awwwwwwww.
