dferstat
I've been running Skyrim SE on Vortex for several days now. As preparation, I created a Default profile, with a minimum number of desired mods. I then created a profile for my new character, Katja, and set it to have its own save games and game settings. I had some problems when I arrived at the character creation scene in Helgen, with the game freezing. While trying to identify the cause, I made one save game, at a point just before character creation, so that I could save time while trying different solutions. Research online suggested that Apachii Hair might be the cause, so I removed it from Katja's profile, and I could then complete character creation. After several game sessions, with incremental save games, I had Katja near the end of the first dungeon, Bleakfall Barrow, four days ago. Wanting to return to the game today, I find that Skyrim can't find any save games other than the first in Helgen. If I select Load in the first menu after game load, I see the options Show All Saves and Prisoner [Modded]. Whichever I choose, I see only one save game, which is the first one I made in Helgen. The file for this save is in the root of the SSE/save games folder. Checking the Profiles screen on Vortex, I found the ID for the profile. In the SSE/save games folder, there's a folder matching the ID, and it contains the save game files I expect. I've checked, and Vortex has the correct profile active. Vortex also lists all the save games for this profile on the Save Games screen. I'm running Vortex 0.17.7. I don't know if it's relevant, but I think that I upgraded to this version, through Vortex itself, about 2 days ago. Any help in fixing this would be very welcome. AugustaCalidia
What happens if your click on "Transfer Save Games" on the saves page?
dferstat
Clicking the Transfer Save Games button at the top of the Save Games screen sees the button replaced with a pull-down menu, asking me to select a profile to import from.. The options are: GlobalProfile: Clean This last is a profile I created with no mods, thinking to use it for future testing.
AugustaCalidia
What happens if you click on Global? But before you do that, make a backup of your profile saves.
dferstat
Clicking on Global shows me one save only, which appears to be the first save I made (Helgen, pre-character creation) , and the one which is is already in the root of my Saves folder. AugustaCalidia
What happens if you transfer your one global save into your profile saves? Or is it already included in that save folder? Do you see all of your save games or not?
dferstat
Offered a a choice of Moving the save, or copying, I chose to copy. The Save Game screen now only offers me the old, global, save, and doesn't show the old saves for the profile. There's no change when I run SkyrimSE; I still only have the one, original save game. Thankfully, closing Vortex, and restoring the Saves folder, has restored the old save games to Vortex's Save game screen. And a check of SkyrimSE shows that no, it still can't see the save games that Vortex lists.
AugustaCalidia
Well, I have only one arrow left in my quiver. When you enable your Skyrim SE profile, purge and redeploy. In times past, when I've had save problems similar to yours, that worked for me. If you're concerned about purging, then just deploy and see what happens. (I personally have never had problems with purging and redeploying, But some people worry that redeployment won't work, and that they'll have to re-enable and maybe reinstall everything.) dferstat
Eureka! As noted above, I created a new profile call "Katya". All well and good. However, looking more closely at the Character name as listed against the Save games in Vortex,I see that I called the character, in-game, as "Katje". I then edited the Katya profile, and changed the name to Katje. SkyrimSE is now able to find the saved games. Now, when I returned to the game on 4 Mar, and on 5 Mar, Vortex and SkyrimSe were able to cope with the disrepancy between the names. However, after the Vortex update on 7 Mar, this is no longer the case.
