TheCalliton
hey all, today marks panic attack number 4 at my job at this godforsaken burger king. not like anyone there would even believe me i fi told them. today has juct sucked and sucked. ordered 70 bucks worth of microsoft points (map packs) from gamestop online. my card was charged but the damn order was canclelled, i called in and apparantly i will get my money back in 2 to 3 buisinessdays. Combine that with my long distance girlfriend being slightly annoyed with something i did. multiply by my hating my job, add today's panic attack, add today's asthma attack (minor one) add the shitty people i work with, and you have a good day for suicide. thank goodness i have certain people in my life, otherwise i would probably have kileld mysaelf long ago
Illiad86
Oh my, 4 in one day? I'm so sorry :( I know how you feel about people not believing you about them. There were a few instances family/friends thought I was faking. That only made the attacks worse. Sucks man, sucks...they are so painful. I used to have them a lot. Once in a blue moon, I'll go into one but I've finally learned how to calm myself out of them. Now that my bf is more knowledgeable, he can help me too. How did you get through 4 of them? Back then, I was lucky that I got out of one without feeling like I was gonna die. Yeah...life sucks sometimes. You gotta push through it. It's good you have people you can rely on when the day is crappy.
TheCalliton
oh, not in one day! i wouldve just walked out of there if it had happened all in oen day. no, this is my fourth at this job, first was roughly 2 months ago. i went to the doctor for that one cuz i hyperventilated. i wish i could calm myself, but when customers and your manager are breathign down your throat and you dont get a break that day because your hours have been cut, you cant go calm down. and some of them were worse than others, illiad, the one yesterday just got me incrdibly pissed, almost lost control of myself
Vindekarr
To the point of hating my job, I agree. I work as a mechanic-I grew up around cars and they're my primary interest an hobby, in thi respect being a mechanic suits me fine. But what I hate, are the people. Not my co-workers either, they're a bunch of good lads and lassies, but rather, the customers. Ingrateful, ignorant and quarrelsome all come to mind to describe them. The biggest problem is shear ignorance. For a lot of people a car is just a car. These people are easy enough to work with, the real problem are when the ignorant ones are also boy racers, this can have some nasty consequences. You wouldn't believe the number of times people bring in a car that's wrecked because of something *they* did to it. I'm talking about the back yard "experts" most of whom own Hondas, who stick fat exhausts, $2 spray paint and second hand tyre rims on some rusted out CRX and then assume it'll attract females. These people tend to make "engine upgrades" aswell, and it's them who I often have to deal with. It's a problem because when they go tinkering with ECUs and governors, it can do some very serious and costly damage. Parts aren't cheap and neither is labour, and when I have to replace four cylenders, 16 valves, 16 valve springs, two camshafts, a cam cover and four injectors, and those have to come all the way from Korea, or Thailand or Japan, that can stack up to a huge damage bill, not to mention a late night rebuilding the engine from the bground up. Worse still are the way I have to constantly face claims I'm overcharging. Trust me, mechanics never overcharge-you're not paying for five minutes work with a spanner. Parts usually have to be shipped in from overseas, then the damaged parts have to be removed, the new parts unboxed and fitted, the engine tested, and the machine re-assembled. Then add in the shear complexity of a modern car(10,000+ piece(minimum) two ton jigsaw puzzle) and you're lucky it doesn't cost more. Yet every day it seems I have to face down a stroppy customr who thinks I'm a nasty moneygrubbing jerk who's simply stickeytaping two wires together then sleeping the rest of the day. Hell I had one woman recently who got in my face over the bill, and then refused to pay saying she could "probably do a better job than a dropout like you" I told her I'd like to see her replace an entire transaxle on her own without tools, and an hour later the manager confronted me saying she'd come whinging to him saying I'd made "sexist remarks" and "double charged" her. In the end she did pay, but it took a lot of coaxing on the manager's part and a letter telling her she'd not get her car back until she did. People. But still, there is a funny side. I had a man come in recently who'd clearly never owned a pickup before and been issued a Great Wall(god aweful Chinese brand) pickup by his workplace. He'd brought it in for a routine service, and when I was testing it to make sure it all worked, I noticed, among a bunch of other horrors, that second gear was missing in action. When i told him he said "Naw, it's always been like that. The guy at the dealership said they are all like that" All I could do was shoot one of the other guys a sideways look and pray I'd never own one myself. :ohdear: Edited August 4, 2012 by Vindekarr

That's what works for me anyways. My attacks are always the ones when your ears ring, your chest crunches up, arms go numb, etc. I haven't had one in almost 6 months now. Really can't say anything about jobs. I like my job, but it consists of me staying home and cleaning the house :P
