Skyrim Crash To Desktop

Hey all,

I have been having some trouble with Skyrim crashing to my desktop. I have tried various fixes and even tried disabling all my mod plugins. After I did that, Skyrim froze. I am really becoming frustrated with this situation, due to the fact I am spending more time fixing the game than playing it. Any help would be well-appreciated.

I am actually running Skyrim on a mac via windows 7 virtual machine. Here are my computer specs:

3.06 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo Processor

4 GB RAM

ATI Radeon HD 4670 Graphics Card

I actually have noticed a pattern with the crashes. I remember several times it would crash when finishing sleep. The vast majority of the crashes, however, occur in the wilderness of skyrim, outside of cities, dungeons, and buildings (i.e. the "open world"). If anyone has any idea how to fix that would be great,

This is the same pattern my CTD's are having too. Especially around the areas of Dragon Bridge, Rorikstead, and Riften.

These sorts of crashes usually indicate a conflict between mods. You can use BOSS to help optimize your load order, along with using Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) to fine-tune it. For those more technically proficient, you can use programs like Wrye Bash to create merge patches to help with the perhaps more subtle conflicts. Lastly, don't forget to talk to mod authors on their discussion pages if you can narrow down the conflict to a few mods; mod authors generally will assist with (or create) compatibility patches if you go about asking nicely :).
