Delayed Crash to Desktop

OK, so yesterday I bought Dawnguard and activated it on Steam.

After the installation and activation, I am now unable to load any of my saves from before then without crashing about a minute after loading them.

I actually tried starting a new game and going through the whole introduction, and this gave me no problems at all.

The last savegame I made was located in a tower not far off from Dawnstar: not sure how that would affect it, but oh well.

I've now disabled every mod including Dawnguard, but even on my older saves it doesn't seem to make difference.

Stuff like SkyUI, Sounds of Skyrim, Item Sorting etcetera.

Even without the Dawnguard file active, I can only last for a very short time on my older save before crashing straight to the desktop again.

I checked the game cache integrity in Steam, defragmented the cache files, but it still doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Even just reinstalled the game, which seems to give only more of the same problem.

Not sure how to fix this problem, but I guess I'll be playing something else for a while until I know for sure what to do.

EDIT: So I checked my save files, and everything before I installed Dawnguard was somewhere around 6 to 7 megabytes large.

Now the average is somewhere in the 40s.

Not sure if this is the problem with your CTDs, or I guess even the recent bloating, but I noticed you mentioned Sounds of Skyrim.

Sounds of Skyrim was taken down by the author a while back b/c of some problems he identified. To compound things, some peeps have been getting wild save game bloat after uninstalling. (Seems to be the civilization one that's the main culprit.)

Anyways, more info on the SoS thing is in this thread (there's links to the bethesda forum discussion on the same topic).
