Jeux
Say I wanted to include licensed sound files I have bought online (they have copyrights on them and state I cannot share them in a way that would be easily accessible in my works). If I pack ALL files in a bsa before release, am I violating copyright laws? The sounds are compressed with the rest of the game files, and the player would technically have to go out of his/her way to extract the files. I just wanted to make this clear, for I do not wish to get banned over material I bought and thought I could include! Thank you.
tetradite
That sounds like a question for the people that sold you the files. It's them who will decide if they want to try to sue you or not, and ultimately it would only be a court case that would resolve what "easily accessible" actually means (and you don't want that even if you win). I'd contact them about it if I were you. And if they say a BSA isn't good enough, then ask them what they do consider good enough. Personally I would assume packing in a BSA would be enough to not be considered easily accessible, but then I can also easily access anything in a BSA. Jeux
As I thought. Those were all points that went through my mind before posting this. I just wanted someone's input from the community, if not a moderator. I will try to get in touch with the authors/artists, though I really don't think it would be problematic in the end. But you can't ever be too safe...

Yeah, if they were sold for this kind of purpose I really don't see how they can ask for much more than BSA packing, BUT it's always best to have one's derrière covered isn't it
Cyberlazy
Sounds to me like these sounds are not to be used in games but maybe as samples in music where they would be overlayed with other sounds and adapted, hence impossable to 'extract'?
