Game very choppy/very slow frame rate

Hello!

I tried looking around to see if there was a sticky about how to (or what to include in a) post to these Tech Support boards but I couldn't find anything. If I missed it could someone please point it out to me? I apologize if I missed and didn't post this properly. Any way...

As the topic title shows my game is suffering from extremely low frame rates/very choppy. It is so slow that even my cursor movement is not smooth but rather "jumps" around on the screen. I am running 23 mods/plugins. I am not running any hi-res texture mods. I am running the game at Medium "resolution" for lack of a better term. My system is the following -

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit - Service Pack 1

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.00GHz

8 GB ram @ 1066 FSB speed

Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 amp edition - 1280 MB GDDR5 ram.

Video Card Driver - Nvidia 301.42

I am running DirectX 11

Display resolution 1920x1200 - native resolution of LCD display

I run Game Booster 3 in Gaming Mode

I also manually shut down most everything remaining in the System Tray - Remaining are Steam, Game Booster and Microsoft Security Essentials

Both my C drive and the game installation drive (D) are striped RAIDs.

Let me know if you need additional data.

I should note that the game originally recommend that I should run it at "High" resolution.

Is my system too old?

HELP!! I love the game but it is almost unplayable. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Best

Gah! ...and I don't have the money to upgrade! Alas...

Thank you Wastelander121 for your reply and expertise.

What do you mean by "run[ning] FNV 4gb"? I'm guessing that is where one manually sets the amount of memory to be available to New Vegas. Yes? If so how does one do such a thing?

yes ur hardware is still OK.

i haz playing fonv on an single core with no problems earlier.

maybe will turn off the AV and firewall(depends on what FW u use) for fonv increase the fps/reduce stutter also turn off windows bitdefender if it aktive.

edit if fonv only run on one core u can try this multicore fix in this link (maybe it will help to if it run already with 2 cores)

section Fixes for crashing

http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Fallout_NV_Troubleshooting_guide note: edit all 3 ini! - make a backup before

btw here is a fonv configurator tool where u can simple edit some threaded switches and the fx but u need to read the discription on the options..some switches can cause crashes.

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/40442/

dont switch a bunch of option in there without test this ingame.
