tmr4122
As stated in the title, with a completely virgin Skyrim install (NO mods, not even using SKSE yet) the game just won't start. It sets up the video card and offers the play button. When I click on it, I get nothing. My system information:OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit Version: 17763.437Processor: Intel® Core i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHzSysmem: 26GBGraphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 version 25.21.14.2531 (4/9/2019)GCmem: 5,002 MBWhat I have done to try to resolve this:1. Uninstalled Skyrim, SKSE and Creation kit through steam.2. Uninstalled NMM, LOOT, Wrybash through apps.3. Deleted all the Skyrim files/folders in Documents/Mygames and Steamapps/Common.4. Deleted the NMM Directory.4. Deleted everything in the AppData\Local\Skyrim folder.5. Ensured my Windows and NVIDIA had the latest updates.6. Ran NAV, Superantispyware full scans.7. Did a cold (20sec) restart on my computer.8. Reinstalled ONLY Skyrim from Steam.9. Verified Skyim file integrity through Steam.10. Ensured that the firewall was not blocking Skyrim.11. Set TESV and Skyrim launcher to run as admin.12. Opened Skyrim and it detected my video card then presented me with the PLAY option.13. I click PLAY, get a spinning wheel for 1-2 seconds and nothing. Skyrim is not showing up anywhere in task manager. Skyrim/Update, hearthfires, Dragonborn and Dawnguard .esms are in the data folder and HF/DB and DG are recognized in Skyrim data files. So then... a. Tried rolling back my NVIDIA graphics driver to 425.31, installing on another drive, completely uninstalled NVIDIA GE Force experience and reinstalled all. no luck. Note that the one weird event is in the GE Force Experience when I select Skyrim, I get the spinning green wheel and no movement or action. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. NeoNord
Experiencing similar problem. Game ran fine on windows 7 , bought a new computer (Alienware Aurora R8 i9 9900k 4.7ghz,16gb ddr4 , 512gb ssd, 2 TB h/d, nvidia rtx 2080 w/8gb gddr6) and cannot get game to load from Steam. Tried with and w/o skse. At one point windows aid it was an incompatibility issue so I got them (chat) and they told me it was skse. but it will not start w/o skse either. Is there a problem between Steam and Windows 10, dunno ? Anyone else experiencing similar issues?
HeyYou
Are your games (steam folder) installed in the Program files directory? If so, that's likely a large part of your problem.

No, they were installed in C:\Steam. Same set up for years. But thanks man. Still have NO idea what was going on but I fixed it. I just did a factory reset of the computer and updated/reinstalled everything...LOL <Shrugs> One of those "good reasons to do spring cleaning". Everything is working great now...even Skyrim.
