I found the strangest Doc Mitchell voice file...

It's in the VFreeformGoodsprings quest, in the Combat tab, under DeathResponse. "What a waste..."

It sounds like a completely different person! Like an evil fantasy character. It's hilarious. Scared the s*** out of me the first time I clicked on it, haha. Does anybody have any idea what this could possibly be? Is it a character from a different Obsidian game that I don't recognize, or was the original Doc Mitchell supposed to be an evil sorcerer?

EDIT: Found yet another strange voice in Doc Mitchell's repertoire. This time it's a group of three clips. VFreeformGoodsprings > Detection > StartCombatResponse > "Ready as I'll ever be", "Here it comes", and "One more time." Very gruff sounding. Neither one sounds like Michael Hogan's other work. I'm speculating here, but it may not be the same character from the first clip, either. Pretty interesting stuff. I'll be sure to share anything else I find.

I think it is the same voice actor. Compare it to the "darn it" response. He normally speaks in a higher pitch, but the voice is pretty close to some of the other lines. There's a bit of an echo in the "what a waste" response which is what gives it that evil sorcerer vibe. That echo probably was not intentional.

The idea that Doc Mitchel is secretly an evil sorcerer is kinda funny though.

ETA:

It's not as bad as the "let me do that one again" mistake that's in the Oblivion voice files!

I just looked it up, and oh my god, that's so funny! I assumed it was going to be a voice mismatch or something, because Oblivion NPCs love doing that. Ended up being so much funnier, though.

Maybe the original direction for Mitchell (or Hogan's original pitch) had a more gruff take.

A few voicelines have that odd echo or reverb to them, like they're recording in a bathroom. Mitchell does it when he heals you and Ranger Ghost has it happen when talking about Nipton.

I'm kinda curious why that is, but it's probably a pretty mundane explanation.
