I am having a problem with skse for legendary skyrim using NMM

So I am redownloading legendary skyrim and using nmm not vortex.

when I apply skse and check it in the tld menu it seems like everything works well. I installed skyui and on start up I get a msg that says skse is not running and is out of date due to a new skyrim patch and to wait for a new version of skse.

Does anyone know whats going on with this? I know its unlikely that a new version of the OG skyrim skse is coming out so does this mean the end of modding on the old game?

Cheers guys

Skyrim LE hasn't updated in years, so you're either using SKSE64 which is for Skyrim SE, or you're using a wrong version of skse, -OR- you're actually using Skyrim SE

Steam should be downloading the newest version of SKyrim LE

I can't tell for sure (also because I prefer Vortex myself) but this is a classic reason why I don't rely on mod managers to do everything for me.

Alas, first the obvious: are you sure you started SKSE and not the default Skyrim game?

Anyway, my advice would be to remove the SKSE installation you have now, download the latest version from the official website and then install that.

thanks for the feedback.

I definitely am using the legendary (old) skyrim and the proper skse version for it off the legit site [skse.silverlock.org] and using the 7z not the installer which I have had trouble with in the past.

I am wiping the game and trying again from scratch with a clean install again and ill see what happens.

if it still does not work maybe ill try to figure out modding sse and vortex. ;]

Now, I don't have any experience with 'Oldrim' but I can say that modding SE (for me at least) was seriously easy. Sure, I did run into a few problems (followers misbehaving, parts of my characters body not bouncing around (don't ask ;)), the whole game crashing when I entered a building or hitting quicksave and at one moment my entire game not starting at all).

But in the overall it was just picking the mod I wanted to use, click "Vortex" to start remote installation and then installing and activating it.

Anyway, good luck, hope things work out for you!
