Muskets DONT belong in skyrim! i certainly do not remember studying the medieval era and reading anything about guns! the only projectiles were bows, catapults, and in legend... Magic! Crossbows came in the renaissance era just after the medieval era, A musket is too modern for skyrim, they didn't have long ranged guns back in those two eras, i believe they had a pistol but not long ranged! guns would be too overpowered anyways in skyrim, They're more powerful that swords and go farther than arrows!

Crossbows of the European Medieval variants were in use since the 1000's, long before the renaissance. The arquebus came in the renaissance era.

i already think they underpowered the katana's (samurai swords) those things are able to slice medieval metal armor in real life!

Katanas can't even harm a man in chainmail beyond the blunt damage, let alone a man in full plate. Contemporary European knights would destroy isolated (not good for development of weapons technology) feudal Japan if it ever came to it.

What a Japanese sword is good for is cutting down unarmored revolting peasants.

readign trough half the thread all the while thinking guns are stupind and un needed especialy with MAGIC but then i suddenly tought that perehaps a really strong gun would do more damage than a novice fire spell (any magic over novice level is still stronger) that tought let to anouther 'isent there some kind of 'gun' like weapon in skyrim but that is charged with magic?'... A STAFF!

i dislike guns personably though if you want them its your decition but even i culd get onbard the idea of having short staffs or 'wands' created by the denwer wich is a stringless crossbow that shoots a dose on concentraded magic (this culd take the form of anything for example a bullet or maybe an arrowhead perehaps even a small lighting)

Problem with muskets it's after one shot they are essentially useless since they take forever to reload. It's not that the technology doesn't belong per se, it's that the technology is a very, very poor fit in the Skyrim landscape.

No "warrior" in their right mind would waste their time and precious inventory space carrying a fire once item, and one that you'd have to figure would be right up there with a Greatsword in terms of weight.

Any attempt to make them playable (increasing speed) and you don't have a musket anymore, you have a rifle or shotgun, which are both out of the scope of an otherwise medieval Skyrim environment.

It's not out of the realm of understanding to think of muskets as a crude form of close range artillery. They were designed to be employed en masse.
