dreamagain
I'm new to modding. I was playing SKyrim on my xbox before, huge mistake! Anyways, I got 20 some odd mods. The game looks amazing. There's new animations for spells, the melee combat has been advanced.. but so far from what I've seen is there is a lack of truly game changing mods out there. Would you guys say this is correct or am I just not looking in the right place? I'm talking like complete combat overhauls, entire new cities and quest lines. I'm talking turning Arma 2 in to day-z. Turning half-life in to counter-strike. YOu guys get the idea. Is there anythign like that out there? Thanks so much!
Lanceor
The reason that there is a lack of them is because big mods take years to make. Skyrim has been out around nine months and the CK around seven. With a bit of luck, we'll start seeing the first really big mods next year, but the best ones probably won't start coming out until 2014.
asdgora
I believe modders are still in the experimentation stage of the creation. And Skyrim isn't that stable anyways, having a huge mod will make it unplayable ;) Edited August 17, 2012 by asdgora

There's a ton of great mods out right now, don't get me wrong. I just can't shake that feeling of "This looks amazing but i've already done this before". I was hoping to explore like an entirely new game, but I'm sure that will come in time!
Zenmuron
Think the Moonpath to Elsewyr is about the closest to the big mods you are thinking of so far. I made a few mods then started working on a village with quests and factions blah blah, friggen thing is taking FOREVER. The CK is not even close to anything resembling efficiency. The amount of steps to do the simplest thing are nearly idiotic.
Brinemobee
OK for me i think you are all wrong :D but i have spent a lot, (too many) hours finding mods that work together to create some really amazing game changes. here are the essentials for me I dont like gamechangers that totally 'change' skyrim. but these mods change the way i play skyrim so much that its like a new game. also these are 'realistic' mods. aimed towards making the game a. f***ing hard. b. immersive. and c. still stable and solid. 1. SKYRIM REDONE - TOns of new stuff. total rehaul of the perk system, bow system, new weapons etc. new spells. 2. A>C>E - magic, and synergy modules. just make it that little bit better. 3. SkyTEST - Full wildlife ecosystem. huge packs of wolves etc. 4. Skyrim monster mod. 5. Wars in skyrim (:'( sadly no more.) so here a few mods that do some of the same stuff. but realy a crude attempt at getting the feel of that game (bandit raids, ambush mod.) and a few others i think. 6. populate skyrim with mods like more travellers, skyrim live etc. with allthese new monsters, wildlife etc. it becomes a really hardcore place. and most importantly FUN AND INTERESTING. 7. UFO follower overhaul. and convieniant horses. really adds to the feel. and you need the protection. just dont make them immortal and its more fun. 8.warzones. of course warzones. adds huge.....warzones everywhere. cpu extensive but you can adjust the settings. is really fun though. 9. Armageddon spells (an AMAZING spell pack) ok. Now, so far what you have done is really fill skyrim with life. but you havent changed the game much. if at all. its still the same. here are just a few simple mods that totally change the gameplay. 1. Total realism overhaul. a simple food/sleep/thirst mod. drink from rivers, fill water bottles etc.2. frostfall hypothermia mod.3. camping mod of choice. frostfall included camping, or ltmoo's camping. or nothern ranger camping mod.4. turn off fast travel.5. turn of GPS locator. type gps into nexus.6 darwins nightmare, less is more module.7. realistic lighting with customisation to make nights darker. SO basically. you have a totally populated skyrim with s*** that wants to kill you. but also, to make it more interesting. each other. you have to watch how you eat, sleep, drink, which means supplies. you have to watch how cold you get. which means travel prep and plans. you cannot simply return to where you came from and buy some grapes, you will die out there if you are not careful. enemies all around. just TRY being chased by a monster modded giant right into the middle of a warzone led only by torch light while searching for food and a place to camp out for the night where you hopefully wont get ambushed. that my friend. is how i play skyrim. that my friend. is a game changer. and im sure its not for everyone. Brinemobee
oh yeah and i forgot the most important one play on master. and add ASIS - it gives massive boost to AI, and gives enemies a chance to use mod added spells. yes. including master destruction armageddon spells from the armageddon pack. leron9999
No Skyrim Scaling Stopper? That really amps up the difficulty, especially early on. Though it sorta conflicts with leveled list changing mods.
gulogulo
There are many outstanding mods out there but perhaps I know what you mean. If you really want something diffeent and unique try Nature of the beast II. Its relatively unknown but I tried to make it something special. Ofcourse I can be baised and I dont know what kind of character you are playing but I suspect you would want to actually command your followers/summons in the field and you could find it a game changing feature. Needless to say its not the kind of huge game overhaul mod you mentioned at the beginning. I myself will never do such a mod. It requires increadible amount of time and resources to do it the right way.
