sparkman20
So I used to play the legendary edition but after getting a better computer I would like to try the SE. I am planning on modding the game a lot and was wondering if the last version is not as compatible as the early builds. So which version should I use? Latest or .. ? Thanks in advance
c0ax599
My vote is for the latest. All the must haves like SKSE, USSEP, are also up to date. That's the one I would go with. I am in fact up to date. ;)
3aq
I prefer the 1.5.62 version myself; I can't play without Skyrim Souls RE. It's an entirely new Skyrim.
thumbincubation
If you can do so without borking your game (ie: you use a mod that isn't updated and you'd have to start a whole new game if you update) then it's always best to keep with the most up to date version, once SKSE and the main dependent mods are updated. What you will want to do is copy your SkyrimSE.exe and SkyrimSELauncher.exe to a safe location, as a backup. Set Skyrim SE to only update when launched, but also only play in offline mode and launch via SKSE instead of the Skyrim launcher. In this way, you have some measure of control over when you get the next update, rather than having it forced on you and your game being unplayable for however long it takes to get SKSE and any dependent mods back on track, which always seems to coincide with when you actually have a few days off to play. Then, when they're all up to date, you can manually update your game and install the latest SKSE, etc. If that process fails for whatever reason (steam likes to arbitrarily unset your settings sometimes) then you have the older version .exes to fall back on, until everything is ready again.
