low fps on good pc

My oblivion is heavily moded with lots of texturepacks and I am getting 15-28 fps when in cities and barely over 20 in world. I used 4gb pacth, stutter remover, streamline and compressed my textures to min with texture optimizer, but didnt get any fps boost. This is so weird i can play skyrim maxed out and bf3 with 60fps.

OS:windows 7 ultimate 64bit

CPU:amd phenom II x6 1100t oc 3.8ghz

GPU:geoforce gtx680

I removed stutter remover and gained 5 fps. stutter remover is a great mod if set up correctly but I am not sure if you need it on a good spec pc. same with weocps, brilliant on my laptop with reduced quality but just another slow down on my desktop.

one of the biggest causes of low fps is too much high end lod. you can usually tell when that is the case when lodgen exe errors with not enough memory even with the patch pointed at it.

oblivion is just poorly coded, and I also get 50-70 fps on a very modded skyrim.

Maybe the procedures you did to enhance FPS are the actual cause of the poor performance, No wonder you didn't notice any performance gain compressing the textures, that card should run the whole scenery at 4096+ easily,

Possibly your FPS problem is in sound... don't laugh :) I talk seriously here. Try using 3rd part codecs like K-Lite, this alone should alleviate the problem but you may want to try a mod called "quiet feet" or something like this, do a search for I have not played Oblivion for a long time now.

Just to do a test, disable all the sounds at the ini file located in your "Documents\My Games\Oblivion and take note if this makes your FPS rocket, if it does you already found the culprit.

Anyway, follow the hints at that tweakguides site since it is still one the best collection of teaks for this game and a few more. It's a long text but you may want to read it carefully for it brings several general hints to enhance your system as a whole.

PS: Almost surely is the CPU bottlenecking the game there, the main reason being it is not optimized to use multicore CPUs, so be specially careful about mods introducing to much creatures/NPC AIs and general script processing. The above site has a section telling how to make the game to use multhreading and Oblivion more than Fallout 3 and New Vegas seems get real profit from multithreading.

I disable the sound in my ini and that wasnt the problem and Ive read few oblivion tweak guides already and edit my ini for multithreading. Removing stutter remover did increase my fps by 2 lol but still gettting bad fps.

I have the same problem. Can run skyrim on modified high settings with some mods at 40-50 fps but can never get over 30-31 fps and in cities like Imp city I get like 20 fps

Windows 7 ultimate 64

Radeon HD 4690 gpu

8 gigs of ram

Whats the problem? And its not mods it was like this in vanilla aswell.
