Disable / Mark for delet

Hey-

I was wondering if I disable an object and then use mark for delete while the id number is still displayed will it be deleted?

And can I do this with a number of objects before entering a cell or does it have to be done one item at a time?

Hope this makes sense.

Thank you.

Deletes the targeted object the next time the area (cell) it resides in is reloaded. Useful for removing specific unwanted furniture/decoration from homes. Be careful as there's no way to restore deleted objects. Objects marked for delete will show [D] next to their ref ID if you re-target (re-click) them. Can be used to remove Ash Piles and Ghost Remains, which otherwise never get removed from the world.

Thank you for replying. Yes, I did read that from the wiki but it didn't really answer my question. Say for example I click on a tree. ID number 001 shows up. I type 'disable' and enter. Tree disappears. 001 is still on screen. I type 'mark for delete' and enter then hit tilde and go back to main screen. ....If I hit tilde again there is no new tree ID number with D to be found. Typing 'enable' does not bring it back. Have I deleted it or is it just disabled and I'm not finding it? Do I still need to go into a cell? And if I need to go into a cell can I first disable/mark for delete 10 different items and have it work or do I need to do one item at a time ? Please, pardon my ignorant, if not somewhat confusing questions. Thank you.

If you markfordelete it will be gone and it will not return. Do not markfordelete that which you do not want to remove permanently, (unless you reinstall the game)

If you want to remove items multiple items permanently then you can use markfordelete repeatedly, but you will want to make sure you are clicking on the actual item you want to delete, otherwise you may find yourself with a big chunk of a mountain or the like missing.

Alright, thank you. Yes. that's why I using disable/enable first. Didn't want to wipe out half of Whiterun or something. Heh. I just wasn't really sure what I was doing after that.

And I didn't quite understand the wiki. Yeah, I'm french.....No offense to anyone french. Thanks again.

Now, on another note, there are 3 particular trees in Riverwood that I have disabled / marked for delete on several occasions. However , when I start the game again, they have returned. What can I do about that. ??

Sorry for the huge necro, but ...

Did I get it right? markfordelete is something that goes beyond the save?

If I "markfordelete" Farkas, the NPC will be gone forever in all my new games unless I reinstall skyrim all together?

I've been using "disable" my entire life, I haven't used markfordelete yet... but now, this concept is scaring me.

Markfordelete only deletes it from your CURRENT savegame. If you delete something and load a save you made a second earlier, the tree you just deleted will still be there. It won't actually delete it forever and ever, it dosn't work that way.

The reason for using markfordelete is to reduce savebloat since it actually deletes the ref. from your current save (and all further saves you make on that char) while disable only "hides" it from plain sight.

Use markfordelete if you want to remove something forever and ever in your CURRENT save and obv. make a save before you actually remove anything.

Thanks for helping me here Lyv, I really appreciated it.

Well, I guess I'll just use markfordelete from now on.

Since things I used to disable in my game, were never really intended to ever come back in that save. The only exception being when I use disable + enable to "reset" the npc.

I know there is already a thread on what i'm about to say (https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/615805-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/70362762) but i recently used markfordelete on many items around solitude docks as two amazing solitude enhancement mods were clipping such as 1 or 2 ships/boats were inside each other and other little things but as of recently ALL those deleted items which should PERMANENTLY be gone have returned and going back to a previous save before it happened does not undo this? It will either fix its self or ill have to put many hours into deleting items again for my playthrough.
