0054(01)054: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: MEETING WITH ARMAND CRISTOPHE

Armand Cristophe came as it got darker. A Redguard man, he was said to be high in the ranks of the Thieves Guild and a trusted follower of the GrayFox. Yet he was generally quiet, unimpressive and dressed only in commoner gear. It was his eyes, a sparkling of deep intelligence and hardness, that gave him away. He missed very little.

He met with Jadekin and Shakira in a small chamber. To the anger of Baurus, Armand did not want him in the meeting. Armand sat on a wooden chair and faced the two women who sat on similar chairs. He studied them for a moment before speaking. “When the GrayFox told me to offer you anything you wanted, pretty much, in exchange for services asked for, I wondered at his cleverness. Now I am near you, can 'see' that you are both very dangerous, I realize the GrayFox has been wise as usual. He told me that he offers three artifacts up front being an Ayleid bladetooka, a WhirlaFinder and one of Rishmarie's Five Paintings of Vivid Artistic Reality.”

Jadekin smiled. “We will take them and offer the Thieves Guild some access to sending chosen folks to a sanctuary, to be rejuvenated for a new life there.”

Armand looked surprised. “The GrayFox was going to ask for that service; how did you know?”

Jadekin shook her head. “I did not but the Thieves Guild knows many of the less fortunate folks of the Empire, those more vulnerable to the coming storm. The GrayFox seems most interested in protecting such people.”

Armand let out a breath. “Good, then my ailing mother has some hope. What artifacts do you seek in particular?”

Shakira responded. “How did you know we seek artifacts?”

The man shrugged. “The GrayFox told me so but how he found out, well since he did not tell me I figured not to ask. The GrayFox is like that. If he wants you to know something, he is not slow to tell it to you. He said you might be looking for WhirlaKeys, what ever they might be. He told me to tell you that there are copies of WhirlaKeys that are inferior to the real thing but dangerous all the same. Some of them have been showing up in the Empire. He also stated that the Dark Brotherhood, the Mythic Dawn and the Mages Guild, and probably others, have also been seeking WhirlaKeys.”

Jadekin was surprised. “Does he know where these fake WhirlaKeys come from?”

The Thieves Guild Member shook his head. “Nobody seems to do so but of course somebody must have some good idea at least. The Thieves Guild is getting rid of all of the ancient, exotic artifacts it has and is making it well known that it is doing this. We have made a deal with the Emperor, who GrayFox says is not really the Emperor but is a faker like many of those in the Sisterhood of Compassion. That is why we don't trust those Blades like that man you are with. Perhaps you should not trust him either.”

“Baurus knows about the False Emperor and the 'fakers', as you call them. Their real names are the shaperfolk.” Jadekin responded. “They seem to be generally to be trustworthy. They are linked with the Constitutionalists and the Order of Compassion, along with other factions. You can generally trust Baurus. Indeed, you may find it in your interest to deal with him in future.”

Armand passed a neatly folded sheet of paper to Jadekin. “These are instructions of where to go to get the three artifacts. I will contact you again, soon enough, unless you contact me first.”

0055(01)055: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: THREE ARTIFACTS; A NASTY SURPRISE

The beggar, Puny Ancus, met them close to the cottage and the three of them followed the short man through the Waterside area of poor housing and other buildings. At the site of a slowly crumbling shack, in a small damp hole of a basement, were hidden the artifacts. Ancus took his gold coin and left in a hurry, seemed happy to be away from that area of the Imperial City Harborside. He could hardly be blamed for that for the area was the source of many a dark and strange story from monsters to dangerous ghosts of the evil dead and strange hidden artifacts in the layers of mud beneath it.

Jadekin was the only one to touch the three artifacts at first.

The Ayleid bladetooka was the least powerful, was an exotic quasimagical weapon that hurled a kind of slim blade projectile. The tookablades worked best if made of silver and might be quasimagical in nature: bronze tookablades could also be used. Such had not been, thankfully for the rebelling slave humans, common Ayleid weapons but had caused much troubles anyway to the rebels. That one was fairly ornate for it had been the property of a lesser Ayleid noble of some kind, as symbols noted, of some lesser Ayleid Kingdom in Cyrodiil. Jadekin made it vanish into special storage in a FategameBracelet called an 'inventory'.

One of Rishmarie's Five Paintings of Artistic Reality was a scroll painting, in a lightly ornate bone scroll tube, that opened to show on one side an amazingly realistic painting of a bizarre, apparently abandoned city, that looked both and unlike the Imperial City. The architecture seemed more basic, somehow, more 'primitive' and yet well made, long lasting. There was a tower something like the White Gold Tower but also great stone block pyramids, some with steps and some with sloping sides. Jadekin 'sensed' it was best to learn more about the painting before trying to use it. She ended up storing it into her inventory.

It was the WhirlaFinder that drew her attention, that was clearly a very powerful but specialized artifact. It was of the same make as the WhirlaKeys.

=-=The FateLords sent you the WhirlaFinder to use. Please take great care in how you use it. It has to recharge between uses. Press the green button and it will take you, and your two companions, much closer to any WhirlaKey. From there you could use the WhirlaDetector, which has a far shorter range. I do not know if it will take you to any fake WhirlaKey.

Shakira and Jadekin 'sensed' the danger about the same instant. The ground began to vibrate beneath them, a thin flagstone floor on hard mud. The first tentacle, glistening green-purple and glimmering green, thrust up into the air. Shakira slipped her broadsword out and cut off the tentacle tip even as a second tentacle came plunging up into the air and shot greedily towards Baurus. As Shakira's blade sliced through a tentacle the creature screamed in alien rage and agony.

Jadekin sliced away the second tentacle as Baurus leaped backwards and drew out his own style of longsword. More tentacles came plunging up out of the floor. Baurus slashed at a tentacle and there was another scream. They kept fighting the attacking beast and then it was gone, withdrawing with amazing speed back down into the muddy depths.

Baurus scowled as the cut off bits of tentacle burned away in an unnatural fashion. “What was that?”

“That was a demonic entity of a kind created, or summoned, to carry out tasks.” Shakira frowned. “They are known as zademozin and vary in shapeform but are all green-purple and glimmering green. The problem is that they are used by many types of entities, by many factions and there are also wild zademozins long ago gone rogue. It was drawn to the power artifacts, that is certain enough.”

0056(01)056: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: WELCOME TO AN AMAZING DANGEROUS LIBRARY

Jadekin frowned. “If such things have been going after powerful artifacts, it could explain why the beggar wanted to leave so quickly and why the Thieves Guild is trying to divest itself of all of its powerful artifacts.”

She lifted up the WhirlaFinder and focused her mind on it, finding that she knew how to use it and doubting that this was any coincidence. The knowledge had been slipped into her mind. She activated the device and the three of them vanished with a sparkling shimmer, taking their gear with them.

With a sparkling shimmer, they appeared in a great big cylinder shaped chamber that appeared to be either a library or part of a library. Millions of books lined the great cylinder wall as it rose upwards to vanish high above. A spiraling rampway, gently sloping, gave access to the books. In the centre of the cylinder rose a thinner, transparent, cylinder and this appeared to have an elevator inside that went up and down to various platforms that were joined to the rampway by long, slender looking enclosed walkways, like horizontal tubes that were transparent of the top half.

The place was amazingly quiet, clean and orderly. Yet there was a 'sense' of profound wrongness about it. Then an old man crept into sight. He wore a strange padded outfit as if he was making every effort possible not to make noise. The man moved slowly, carefully, with amazing exaggeration. Then the man, the lower half of his face thickly muffled, saw the three newcomers and he gave a small start. Then, carefully, he drew down his mask and showed himself to be Dwemer of the Mer. He signaled desperately for silence and then began to make his way across to them.

When he was quite close, he drew out a notepad and showed them some writing. MAKE NO SOUND LEST THE LIBRARIANS HEAR AND STRIKE. IN THE PERFECT LIBRARY OF PERFECT LIBRARIANSHIP, THE LIBRARIANS MAKE SUFFER THOSE WHO BREAK THE RULES.

He led them, carefully, through to a small half cylinder shaped tunnel and then along that until they went through a shimmering curtain of energies. Once they got through that, he relaxed visibly and spoke. “We are now in a Safe Zone that by ancient agreement the HizaLibrarians have no power, no authority and where they choose not to come. We are Dwemer, or at least some of those remaining from the Great Whirla Madness.”

The area was fairly crowded with Dwemer people, also known as dwens in a more casual basis when it came to these particular Dwemer. There were men, women and children. Amongst the dwens were humans, orcs, other kinds of Mer and other peoples. There was no great wealth or poverty to be seen. Life was hard but not too hard. While some energy artifacts were being used, along with Mer quasimagical items, much there was more primitive. This seemed rather ironic given the very advanced ways of the architecture around them.

Jadekin nodded. “I can assist you with goods that I will materialize if you so wish or send many of your people, your elderly, your sick, to be rejuvenated to find a new home in the TransDomain of Jadekinaria. Except that all must be tested before they go and tested-transformed if accepted. That is not done by me and I have no say in what happens.”

The tall Dwemer, or dwen, man flicked back the hood of his robes. “Truthfully, we will take anything you can give us for we likely need it all. As for the afflicted, well we have those suffering from the Whirla Sickness. They number in the thousands and are both desperate and dangerous. If you could do something for them, that would give the rest of us far more safer room to spread out into and more resources. For the Whirla Sick dominate the areas outside of the HizaLibrary Complex, the overgrown gardens not attended by the HizaLibrary Workers, where we could grow food and do so much more.”

0057(01)057: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: LEARNING THINGS

The HizaLibraryCity was a version of the Imperial City in an Alternate Tamriel that was mostly semiwilderness and wilderness. The HizaLibrarycity was massive but mostly underground. At its center was a White Gold Tower. While it had many millions of books, and other items, its major collection were known as HizaSoulbooks. These terrible volumes were once people who had been transformed into the exotic books, their souls trapped inside. The Dwemer had never intended that the HizaSoulbooks exist at all, let alone in such large numbers.

The HizaLibrarycity was created during the Great Whirla Madness when the Thirteen Great Sages had used all thirteen WhirlaKeys to access the power of the Whirla of Fate. They had created thirteen new realms for the Dwemer to make their homes in but had then, unintentionally, unleashed the Great Whirla Madness. The Thirteen Dwemer Alternate Realms had become sundered from one another and the HizaLibrarycity had turned upon the Dwemer, along with other peoples in the realm.

The HizaLibrarian Entities, along with lesser entities serving them, had then begun to enforce an crazy set of rules and the punished were punished in various ways, even being turned into HizaSoulbooks at times. The last was done only under certain conditions but all punishments were overly severe. Many of the rules were very hard to keep if not near impossible. For example, keeping quiet in the library had been replaced by KEEPING SILENT IN THE LIBRARY; people had been punished harshly for breathing too loud, for sneezing quietly and so the madness continued.

The Safe Zones were not in the library 'proper' and so an agreement of sorts had been formed. People found safety there and over centuries had struggled to survive. The HizaLibrarycity provided them with some valuable resources for free such as water, light, fresh air, complimentary gifts and some others including toilet facilities. Yet life was still not easy for the survivors and getting between some Safe Zones was hard, was dangerous.

“There are clever tricks we have learned to strengthen our survival chances.” SadsaVane looked around at the great central chamber of the Safe Zone. “The HizaLibraryCore can not change the core of rules and regulations so we use them to our advantage. We take books from the library and slip them into pay for return chutes to gain income to use the limited vending machines in the Safe Zones. Volunteers get turned into HizaLibrary Workers, into almost mindless workers, and then use the earned wages to help themselves, their families and their communities. That is when they are returned to a Safe Zone after their contractual duties are completed. Seems the HizaLibraryCore must accept volunteers and pay wages. When I met you I was moving very quietly through the library proper to take messages between Safe Zones, to scout around to see what was happening in the library proper.”

Jadekin spoke then, with care. “We seek the WhirlaKeys to return them to where they should be. I am a FategamePlayer, I am Jadekin.”

SadsaVane nodded. “You are deeply entwined into the multiple twists and turns, the alternates, of fate, the karmic streams and destiny. So are you.” He turned to Shakira. “At times I am very glad I am merely just a lowly mortal.”

Shakira snorted. “SadsaVane, the mere mortal? SadsaVane, an aspect of the Eternal Guardian is more accurate. I am an aspect, an avatar, of the Eternal Champion. Jadekin is tied to a far deeper, more mysterious truth.”

Jadekin shook her head. “No, no, I really am confronting enough challenges now with out facing a 'far deeper, more mysterious truth'. Now, can you help me get any more WhirlaKeys? I have obtained, and returned to the FateLords, one Baseline WhirlaKey. I stole the WhirlaKeys in the first place.”

0058(01)058: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: DECEPTIONS AND ILLUSIONS

SadsaVane, of the Eternal Guardian, looked thoughtful. “The Thirteen WhirlaKeys of the Great Madness have long vanished away. Yet there is said to be another WhirlaKey, of another thirteen of such, in the HizaLibraryCity. It was said to have been brought here by Ayleid refugees fleeing from another Alternate Tamriel. It is also stated that it is a Baseline WhirlaKey. The problem is that it is in a Safe Zone that is quite a long way into the depths of the HizaLibraries. There are Safe Spaces and Safe Chambers you might find rest in on the way but only I know them all. Yet I can not come with you for I am needed here. I will give you information and a guide who knows much.”

Jadekin had given to Shakira a WhirlaDetector. Baurus was unable to use one. Shakira took out the enhanced device, improved over the original one that Jadelegs and designed, had made. Jadekin and Baurus looked at her in puzzlement as Shakira turned on the WhirlaDetector and aimed it directly at SadsaVane. At once the device began to hum and then to make an odd beeping noise in a rapid manner while green lights flashed on the device. A green, pencil thin, beam of energy reached out from the WhirlaDetector and ended at a large pouch at the Eternal Guardian's waist belt.

SadsaVane scowled. “Very clever of you, Eternal Champion.” He leaped backwards and thrust out a longsword that seemed to come from nowhere. “Yes, of the Eternal Guardian but of the original one that came to see the real core truth of eternity.”

Shakira frowned. “Who became corrupted along with the rest of the original 13of13 Eternals.”

Shakira slashed her swords forward and then the amazingly swift, agile sword fight began. Again and again the longswords struck each other. Jadekin pulled back and made sure Baurus did the same. The two fighters became so fast that to Baurus they became invisible but Jadekin could follow them easily enough, could see what happened.

Suddenly SadsaVane was gone but Shakira was holding the pouch that the WhirlaDetector had shot a beam of energy at. She passed it to Jadekin who opened the pouch and drew out the Baseline WhirlaKey that was inside. Even as she took the WhirlaKey out, the crystal sphere, and held it up, it vanished with a soft shimmering effect as the FateLords took it back.

=-=The second Baseline WhirlaKey, of the Second Base Thirteen Whirlakeys, is returned. You are now gaining one fategamecredit per second, 10 fategame-points per 100 seconds, 10 spinlings per 1,000 seconds and three wishlings per every 10,000 seconds. You have gained 40 hulknoids and 30 duplicants. The Primary Quest has been expanded by the addition of the Secondary Quest to find all of the False WhirlaKeys and to give them over to the FateLords.

Baurus looked around in astonishment. “You destroyed him?”

Shakira shook her head. “No! Nor was I trying to do so! I was after the Baseline WhirlaKey that he so very much wanted us not to get access to. The 13of13 became corrupted and though some came to repent, to seek redemption through action, other Eternals were created to replace them as the 13of9of13of81. Many call us the Eternium, which is more straight forward in some ways. Being one of the Three Secondary Avatars of the Eternal Champion, I really do not have the power to destroy an avatar of the long corrupted first Eternal Guardian. I did do it some injury and it will need to heal itself. We call the corrupted Eternals the False Eternals for in truth they no longer are True Eternals, their corruption having changed them.”

The illusion was gone! Around them was no thriving community but only a few scattered remains of one long gone. The only signs of life having been there were a few heaps of skeletal remains.

0059(01)059: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: TRANSFORMATIONS AND TROUBLES

It happened with amazing suddenness! Jadekin in Jadekinaria merged with Empress JadekinKia and together became Jadekia. There was no real need for an Empress or so Jadekia first assumed. There was now only one Jadekin now and she was in the HizaLibraryCity. Jadelegs was in the TransGlobeShaiVa.

The Empress JadekinKia was gone and Jadekia found she had only vague secondary memories of what had happened there. She had only vague memories, information, about the Empress in general. Empress JadekinKia had gone insane but due to a powerful, treacherous psychic attack from somebody she should have been able to trust. This one was named Erivena and the Empress had so trusted her that the other woman had been made President of the new Imperial Commonwealth. It had been Erivena who had pushed for the creation of the Imperial Commonwealth, in the first place, along with the fortified highlands city of Ashanburg. Many of Empress JadekinKia's valuable resources had gone into creating the Imperial Commonwealth and Ashanburg.

Who was Erivena and how had she gained the trust, and favors, of the Empress JadekinKia? Jadekia made some inquiries with locals, with visitors from other parts of Jadekinaria. It turned out that Erivena had appeared suddenly at the settlement of EvaLaketown some twenty years ago and had begun to heal people for cheap or, in some cases, for free. Though she seemed giving enough, many people did not trust her though none could really say why this was. There was 'something' about her that had them being wary. Also her healing treatments often seemed illusionary at best.

When Erivena vanished so did a good deal of the town's treasury funds being golden finger-ingots and power-gems along with an artifact of power. The artifact was known as a WhirlaKey but the locals did not know much about it or anything about WhirlaKeys in general. Erivena was later spotted walking on the shoreline of the Imperial Island. She stopped to wave and smile towards EvaLaketown as if to flaunt her freedom before them and the fact she had gotten away with stealing so much from them.

Outsiders were not normally welcome on the island, or in the city, by Empress JadekinKia so the reason for Erivena being there was a mystery to the locals that had never since been solved. The knowledge that the Empress was sick of mind, body and spirit was common. Erivena had taken advantage of that sickness to gain influence over JadekinKia. The Empress had become sicker under the false healer's attentions, had become manipulated into giving her too much wealth and power. In return Erivena had betrayed the Empress and later had sealed her in with a force field of some kind when it appeared that the Empress would strike at the corrupted Imperial Commonwealth leadership.

Yet it had not gone all the traitor's way. 40 hulknoids and 10 simulicants had appeared in the Imperial City, apparently from the FategameLords. Then had come 40 hulknoids and 30 duplicants, far more basic cousins of human like simulicants: in contrast the duplicants looked obviously like active mannequins. The simulicants had directed a defense against some kind of threat on the island.

Demonars, those fully absorbed by demonino demonic spirits, had appeared on the island to attack the peoples there who were servants, followers and 'imperial camp followers' along with a few others who just happened to live in the city or, outside of the city, on the island. Leathery skinned, sometimes horned, they had struck with brutal power only to be driven back by a well organized army. The hulknoids had smashed into the demonars, taking them by surprise because the demonars had not expected to be met by such powerful entities. The hulknoids used great big weapons, some of them quasimagical or magical. Some of the hulknoids used large, powerful guns.

The colored lights moving at night had been elemental orbs projected and floating through the air to expose and target demonars for others to attack them.

0060(01)060: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: THE RISE OF EMPRESS JADEKIA

Jadekia gained 120 more hulknoids and 90 duplicants to assist in the protection of EvaLaketown and other areas from increasing attacks by the ICCG.

From the FategameLords she also gained a castle estate in the Treelands eastwards of EvaLaketown. With the castle estate came special resources. Apart from the Imperial Island, the whole domain was divided into three rings radiating out from the center that was the Imperial Lake and Imperial City. They were the Lakelands, the Treelands and, outer most, the Highlands. These were traditional names and only generally corresponded with the actual geography of the realm. Generally the Lakelands had many smaller lakes. The Treelands had very old, very thick forests and the Highlands were foothills, the lower valleys and mountain regions. The castle estate came complete with a low hulking castle complete with cannons, gun ports and other such defenses along with quasimagical ones. To her pleasure there was also a Waygate linking the estate to her property in EvaLaketown.

Jadekia went to the castle estate and found it to be newly made. She called it the Castle Jade and Castle Jade Estate. The Castle Jade Estate would become her central focus of business, of politics, of various projects. So it was that some of her simulicants, duplicants and hulknoids went to serve at the new estate in the Treelands. She materialized resources for the place and began to hire many of those who were tested-rejuvenated refugees coming from one of the Alternate Tamriels.

It was others who came to Jadekia and asked her to be Empress Jadekia, to be a figurehead for the FreeAlliance. Rebels leaders smiled at her and seemed to assume she would just be there to represent the FreeAlliance while they made all of the real decisions. She just smiled at them back and then began to speak. It did not take long for the rebel leaders to realize that she would be the Empress but she would be no mere figurehead providing the rebels with endless resources and a nice puppet of a symbol to use for their cause. She would be Empress with authority, influence, wealth but she would also give much and would listen much to others.

It came to no real surprise that Marshal Harrista Strongth had demanded that the FreeAlliance attack Jadekia, killing her and her followers before stealing her resources. It also came as no surprise that he was totally rejected and that soon after he, and the Free Strength Cadre, were thrown out of the FreeAlliance for brutality, stealing from local people and other dark reasons. Marshal Harrista Strongth vanished, taking about half of his cadre with him, the others deciding that they had had enough to do with the monstrous man.

A taskforce was sent north, with many resources, to assist the freefighters there dealing with enemy military, and paramilitary, forces. They went in hybrid-electric aeroplanes driven by one or two propellers. Most aircraft were manufactured in the far southern city of Mechanicoto, as was so much else. The peoples of Mechanicoto considered themselves to be semiautonomous from the Imperial Commonwealth.

Empress Jadekia sent them a communications concerning recent, sudden, increases in prices for all goods and services sold by Mechanicoto to the FreeAlliance. She requested that a meeting take place as soon as possible between the FreeAlliance Leadership, including herself, and the Mechanicoto Mercantile Council. Her communications attempt was ignored except for a short, abrupt response stating that the Mechanicoto Mercantile Council had made its decision, the decision was final and that the Mechanicoto Mercantile Council did not even recognize Empress Jadekia as 'empress'.

Empress Jadekia went through her resources, more exotic and otherwise, and met with various FreeAlliance leaders, with her own advisers, with others. She utilized more fategame resources and created a very large quasimagical machine at the estate. The MassTransduplicator was soon at work.

0061(01)061: Of JADEKIN OF THE MAGEBORN: SEEKING CLUES AND GETTING SOME

Jadelegs stood in the center of a very large domechamber, a small realm in its own right though nowhere as large as the TransDomain of Jadekinaria. The walls-ceiling were just visible in the far distance. Around her was a city, of sorts, that was actually more like a scattered set of towns, each in its own dome, linked by semi-enclosed roadways and underground subway tunnels.

Jadelegs stood high on top of a cylinder shaped tower, inside a transparent dome, and considered what she had learned with her research, with her meditations, with her attempts to regain memories, to search the past lives of all three aspects of Jadekin.

Jadelegs=We (three) all died and then we met in spirit form, merged to gain power and returned to existence. Yet the story is muddled, unclear, even seemingly self contradictory at times.

Two small squat goblems sat at her feet and were sleepily observing the small domeland stretching out partly green forests and grassy clearings, partly small lakes and rivers, partly the domed towns. There were domed farms with crops, orchards, cows and other agricultural activity. The goblems were slowly devouring some snacks; eating was one of their favorite past times along with basic games, sleeping, napping, basic work to impress Jadelegs and taking turns to be with Jadelegs.

Jadelegs=The period of time that is most unclear is that between the deaths and the return to existence. Are we even alive now in the 'normal' sense of such matters?

=-=You are no longer mortal but then again, were you ever really mortal? Jadekin gave herself over to possession by a monstrous devil entity before she was killed by the Eternal Champion.

Jadelegs noted a small electric helicopter humming through the air.

Jadelegs=The book of that other Alternate Tamriel where the Mythic Dawn assassinated Emperor Uriel Septum VII, along with his two sons and where the Eternal Champion and Emperor Martin Septum closed the Oblivion Gates, that has an odd 'feel' about it. I have an impression that the Alternate Reality it speaks of is somehow more 'real', more 'genuine' than the three that we are more experienced with where events took different paths.

Something was nagging at her as if she was missing something that was right in front of her. She 'sensed' that there was some kind of important pattern hidden inside past and current events, in the lives of the three Jadekin aspects that had merged as one, but the pattern was not clear. Perhaps finding that pattern would lead to some kind of reason why everything had happened and was happening as they had and were.

The three books, gained at the same time, had been the HISTORY OF THE DAEDRIC INVASION, OBSCURE LEGENDS AND STORIES OF TAMRIEL, VOLUME I, and THEORIES OF POSSIBLE AND PROBABLE ALTERNATE EXISTENCES The last book had given her many insights to what might be happening, had happened, though she did not agree with all of the theories written of in the tome. Neither had the author. The second book had been of much interest, had been filled with accounts that were said to be possibly real or partly real, to different degrees and yet she had yet to gain anything from it.

One of the goblems spoke out as the two played an odd little game typical of goblems. “Magic shop, magic shop, one two three steps to the Magic Shop. Whirling whirling whirling to the Magic Shop through the WhirlaGate. Take you coins, your best coins, your very best coins, to the Magic Shop with one two three steps along the WhirlaPath.”
