ihateregisteringeverywhere
Hmmmm, it could actualy be possible to create a chess minigame in oblivion. Here's how it'd work. There would be an invissible activator places arround the table, once you activate it a message box asks if you want to play chess. If you say yes, then a script could spawn an invisible npc that would start a conversation with you. The conversation topics would be figure names and the subconversations for each piece would be its moves, Each square could have a marker and the figures could be a 1 hit point creatures, You could move those with a script in the conversation. And remove the taken enemy set pieces by simply letting one piece one-hit-kill the other, which could trigger a script that would remove the conversation option for this set piece. The only problem would be the enemy player AI :). Anyway, as far as your mesh goes.. Yeah, just upload it. No I mean realy, I did a realy vulkin simple mod based on a request yesterday and uploaded it, I never though anyone else besides the original requester'd have any use for it, but voila the next day I allready have 400 views and some 20 or so downloads - making me go wtf instantly. As to contructive criticism. I think you could make it look like a tad bit better. First off, the exactly same texture for each square looks.. Weird, try playing with the UV's to get atleast seemingly different squares. Or just use one big one. The squares texture seems big, why not only use it once and colour the different squares in photoshop(Or gimp or whatever you've got, I'm using ps because I've got one from work...)? This would also allow you to create a nice normal map which would in turn allow you to divide the squares with grooves without having to model them. Another thing that strook me is the edges of the board, the place appears to have a horridly stretched texture. Either use a bigger one or divide the board into more polygons and make and map the poly's to repeat the texture. The last thing would be the edge again, I personaly feel that it's a little too plain. Another tier perhaps would do it good. Or an elaborate texture with ornaments engraved in gold. P.S.: Voted yes for encouragement ;D

The textures that i used were in-game texture (Ayeld mostly lol ) but I'll work this days on them :). Here's a screenshot made in nifskope http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq254/alex2avs/Chess.jpg :thanks: again for the opinion and the constructive criticism. Tomorrow I'll work at the mesh
LHammonds
How about making it life-size where you can pick up the pieces with the grab (Z) key and place them on the board. Maybe place it in a courtyard as the flooring and have an area where the pieces are stored. I could see something like that being ridiculously funny by having a savegame that two people email each other back and forth making moves one at a time. LOL. I would recommend having 4 to 8 different areas used on a texture for each color to break up the pattern a bit. So instead of every black space having the exact same texture pattern, only one out of four or one out of 8 black squares would look the same...and thus look less like a repeated pattern. LHammonds I've been thinking at animating the future pieces but moving them is a better idea :)You could use the multiplayer mod and play with someone online Uncle IHRE helped me with the textures :)I'll upload the new mesh when I come back from school
