dual graphics cards or not

Recommended Posts

i got a new system with a VIDEO: GeForce® RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 (Turing) [VR Ready] (Single Card)

and was thinking about getting a second card and linking the two together

do you think it would be worth it or not and why

thanks for your insight

It's a more powerful card than the GTX 1080..... For the money you spend, vs. the performance you get, no, not worth it. Most games don't take advantage of multiple cards in any event.

I fully agree with this. SLI could be cool but the reality is that the support for it is very poor overall, the vast majority do not take it into account at all since the number of players running SLI is so low.

Another thing to consider ... you double the chances of a card failure (same argument against a RAID 0 for hard drives).

I've personally been down the failed card scenario in a SLI setup (as well as the failed RAID 0 ... twice).

Even if multiple GPU setups weren't a dying breed, you wouldn't be able to take advantage of it as the RTX 2070 doesn't have an NVlink connector (Only the 2080 an 2080 Ti have one)
