SergeantGrrock
Well, in my game, the heads roll around on the ground, like leaves on the wind. I see what you did there... ;) I have a phrase I use about wind too. Your sh!ts in the wind troop.
InuyashaFE
It won't happen because Bugthesda "dummed down" the mesh files for bodies, so there are no longer any "parts" to separate ... Another "great improvement in game engine design" by Bugthesda <end sarcasm> How is it that a Skyrim-dedicated site seems to be 70% composed of people who hate the game? chaosrabbit
Imo it makes more sense for this to actually NOT be in the game. It just doesn't seem right to me that extreme gore like that should be commonplace in a fantasy medieval setting like TES. While it would be nice to see some more variation gore, like lopping off a hand or leg, it probably wouldn't be worth the effort when there are already enough blood texture mods, finishing moves and decapitations to satisfy most consumers. It would be disappointing to see TES become torture-pron-ish,

Lachdonin
Knowing a thing or two about weapons (in fact, anyone who has watched Deadliest Warrior should be familiar with this, you don't need my 8 years of archaeology and forensic anthropoloigy) theability for a weapon to actually lop off imbs, heads etc. surprisingly slim. Even steel weapons, unless properly weighted, tend to have trouble actually cutting through bone, a notable exception being, of course, Katana, but the quality of said blades borders on the obscene. Axes, maces, swords, daggers etc. are unlikley, in a stright up fight, to sever anything. Most likely, they will hit bone and stop. Against stationary, mounted targets, you can have some rather dramatic effects (Maces causing Fallout-esque exploding heads for instance) but the human body is designed to absorb the recoil of such blows. If you were, for instance, to strike a person atop the skull with a mace, it would shatter the collar bone, compress the spine and cave in the skull. It would be unlikely, however, that the head would explode. Similarly, with bladed weapons, while severing a head tends to be easier (particularly with curved blades, as they have longer cutting edges which equates to greater contact over the length of the swing) limb damage tends to be more common as deep slashes, as the blade fails to cut through the thicker, solid bone. Hands of course make easy targets, but they are small and typically heavily over-armoured for just that reason. Point being, the lack of severed body parts in Skyrim is, in fact, more realistic than the ability to dismember an opponent in the heat of battle. Georgiegril
But really. Heads do roll around in the dirt in my game. Always have. I don't use gore mods. I found it disconcerting at first but now I'm used to it. Are you really saying no one else has decapitated heads? That seems really odd to me. I make sure to put them properly into cooking pots though, so they don't roll.
